I had to get the velcro strap because I broke one of my GP 3300 7 cell packs in half and had to resolder it. Once I get a new radio, I will try to find a different way to secure the reciever down so i can get rid of that stock plastic battery strap too.

My original battery tie-down thing is pretty sad lookin. lol I've had to cut it a few times to fit different things in there. Not much left of it now I see there are some cuts in yours, they look nicer than mine. [8D]

Gunnut, I had to trim my stock battery/reciever strap so I could fit my 7 cell batterys in it.

They have one of the wires soldered onto the end of it and wouldn't let the strap fit on right so I had to make those 2 holes.

Have any of you guys ever had a Novak Super Stock Brushless, because i read on another thread that the only difference in performance between it and the Reedy Quad was the torque. Would it be smarter if I just got a Reedy Quad because it is so much less money? Man, I cant decide, I want no maintenance, but i also want to not spent tons of money.
Is there any other brushless motor for less? I also dont know what gearing i should have either? Wow, i dont no a lot of stuff
Could Someone help [&:]

Also(yes another question) The 5x11 bearings fit the wheels right? because tower reccomends a different size.

Wondering about running 7 Cell hump back battery.

Just bought a Stampede with a Mech SPD Control.

Is it ok to run a 7 Cell battery?

I'm not sure how much msc's can handle, but I would suggest getting a new ESC. They will improve the performance of your stampede and are much more technologically advanced than msc's.

Well ESC's can cost anywhere from $25 USD (for a cheapo one) to $200.

It all depends on how much you're ready to spend.

I have the novak super SPORT, (I think we're talking about different motors) and it's really fast-- But I agree with you that the price is a little outrageous. I think you'd be happy with a quad mag. I used mine for a long time and didn't do any maintenance. I guess it's due for some now because my brother burnt it up in his evader. The maintenance on a 19 turn motor isn't that bad, you should be able to get like 40 runs before it NEEDS any attention. people who race do maintenance more often because they need perfect performance. I generally run my brushed motors til they don't go anymore. then, worry about maintenance. That might be bad advice, but hey-- I'm just a basher.
Gearing the quad mag and the novak brushless is actually about the same. between 15/87 and 17/87.

For the 5x11 bearings to work you'll need the RPM front and rear bearing carriers. Tower probably recommends 5x8. Those will work with the stock carriers but they (the bearings) will fall apart because they're so small they can't handle the stress. I used 5x8's for a while and had to replace three of them before I decided to upgrade to 5x11's and oversized carriers.

Thanks Gunnut. Ya im gonna just gonna get a Reedy Quag, im just a basher so that advice was helpful to me, and i probly wont even do maintenance after 40 runs, cuz im just lazy like that, even though i should cuz my lhs is an hour away and my parents very rarely bring me. I'm also gonna get the 5x11 bearings for just that reason, my lhs is an hour away so the only way im replacing parts is online, so waiting a week for something like a bearing is just annoying. Did you get the Dyno version of the Quag Mag, cuz i read on this forum that you dont need to break it in, cuz i dont know how to break in an engine. And do the masher 2k's fit the stock wheels cuz i was thinking of getting some of those too. And what bodies do they make that will fit the pede without modification? ok bear with me, one more question, what do you guys feel about the wide pede conversion, are the nitro rush arms better because i cant even find the losi arms, and could i have a list of everything i would need?

ok, thats a lot, but im new so any help would be appreciated [&:]

Hey guys, I'm looking into purchasing an RTR Stampede. I was wondering, what is the difference between the one shown here http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXJE66**&P=ML
And this one http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXVK75**&P=ML

They both seem very similar, except one comes with an ESC. Is the ESC better than the one in the cheaper version? Would it be worth the extra cash?

I also would like to know what charger I need to purchase. I don't have a charger, so I would like to know what is a good but inexpensive one that won't blow up my battery.

My final question, is how is the stampede overall? I hear the handling is pretty bad, but it seems that many people have fun with theirs anyway.

The Reedy 19T Quad Mag is an excellent motor for the Stampede. You definately won't regret getting one. But there is quiet a bit of difference between it and the Novak SS brushless systems. I've had both. I don't know the difference between the regular Reedy motor and the dyno version, but breaking one in isn't that hard at all. I run mine of 3 volts for about 4-5 minutes and then ran the crap out of it like normal. Masher 2000's do fit stock 2.2 wheels on the Stampede. They are a great upgrade too. Proline makes a Hummer H2 and a Chevy Silverado body just for the Stampede, but any 1/10 offroad truck body can be made to fit pretty easily. Some people even use Maxx size bodies, but IMO they are just a little bit too long.

The wide pede conversion is a great upgrade also. I had the Losi arms before I got the Rush arms on my truck. The Losi are great because they lengthen the wheelbase too but they are just a tiny bit narrower then the rear. The HPI Rush arms keep the stock wheelbase, but match the rear width perfectly. I think they are a little bit stronger too. The only bad thing about doing the wide pede conversion is it will cost you around $70 bucks to get everything you need. It seems simple, but you need alot of stuff to do it.

the second one which is more expensive comes with an electronic speed control (esc). It is totally worth spending the money for the esc!!

I got the quad mag 19turn by reedy last week!!! It is so much faster than the stinger!! I also went out and bought a nicer batterie from radio shack, well its not that nice but it is new, that 3300mah, and the combination makes my pede weelie walk for days!! cheers Mr. Tyler

Dustbunny, the Pede is no racer. Handling is not one of its strong points stock. It is simply an all-out fun ride and is very, very durable. The ESC is worth it over the Manual Control, but some people will say to ditch the stock electronics all together. Personally I don't have issue with the stock electronics, but I'm just a backyard basher. Charger recommendation--not too sure. I have the ICE, but its not inexpensive, kind of the opposite, but worth the extra money. Overall the truck is a blast. Not likely to find a more FUN truck. Better, yes, fun, no.
