RE: deans plugs suck
In all honesty here, I really do not see a difference in times of installing/removing battery packs using a connect or not using a connector. From my observation, they both take the same amount of time to remove, charge, and reinstall.
Now I have heard word of some new connector called a "power poll" and its claims as being "better" than deans because it is as close to hard wiring as it gets. Anyone know about this thing?

Power poles are not new, nor are they better than Deans. They are equal from a performance standpoint. I think Deans are easier to deal with though.
Personally, I intend to hardwire next season. I already hardwire my motor.

Speedmunkey, you rule man. I guess the factory drivers at the electric track I lounge around at want to sell me something "new" since they know I am a newcomer to the electric arena and do not know any better. HAH! I'm getting better though!
As far as using deans plugs, I am going to skip out on it. I will just hardwire everything in my car. I have a very nice soldering iron with adjustable heat and it cost me only 70 bucks at Radio Shack! It performs just as well as that Hakko soldering iron and costs hundreds less. Why is the Hakko iron priced so much higher?

Cuz you get what you pay for. If I were using it every day, for many hours a day, I'd buy a nice Hako unit. However, I use mine mainly on raceday and when tinkering on stuff at home. About 8-10 hours per week. Hardly worth the investment.

ive got a nice butane iron, from Bernz-O-Matic. it heats up unbelievably faster than then electric i grew up with. it also doubles as a torch when you take the tip off for when you lose your patience
suprisingly enough, it doesnt use that much fuel, and theres a place around my town that sells butane really cheap

I personally won't buy anything from RadioShack.
I use a 60w soldering iron at work (don't know the brand, but it ROCKS).
maybe that RadioShack one will last you 2 or 3 years compared to the Hakko lasting forever
