RE: All you Pede people
Hey 45,
Just out of curiosity, what pinion/spur are you running with the 5800?
I've got the 5800 in mine as well running 7 cell GP3300's, but recently discovered the 5800's limit.
It appears that my ESC is going thermal. This only happens after several high speed runs in succession, but it get's REALLY hot, -so hot that I got a blister from touching the heatsink on the ESC, -not good.
I can't remember what size pinion I have (RRP with less teeth than stock), and an 84 tooth spur. The truck is good for all of 40+ MPH and is a wheel-standin' S.O.B. It is absolutely a hoot to drive, but has really benfitted from the addition of the homemade wheelie-bar.
I'm kind of at a loss as to why the thing is getting so hot. I am going to gear down a bit to see if that helps. It only started happening after I started running the 7 cell packs.
I'll do a tooth count on the pinion to see what I've got then let you know.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Thats when I hear people talking about how they want there pede to be faster than the novak ss, im just dumb struck, its darn near impossible to drive now, faster... wow! Yes thats the novak ss 5800 on 7cell GP3300's from ballistic batts.

I ended up going with a Feigao 8s and I have seen people posting about wanting even more than that. It's almost too much power for the drive train in my Pede, it's geared 18/87 and I can't even run a full 7 cell pack without shredding the diff gear.

Thunderwolf,
I run the feigao 7s and I only have about 10 runs(lipo runs) in the PEDE but I have not had any problems YET with shredding the gears. Did you get the alum. idler gear?

Are the pullers taller than the mashers? And whose 90T spur are you using?
I'd better gear it down just a bit before I completely cook the ESC.
It sure hauls some serious butt before the ESC signs off though!
Thanks for the info and advice.

Yes, I'm running the aluminum idler. I'm thinking part of the reason the gear strips so easy could be partly from some glitching I'm getting. I made a shield with aluminum foil and card board and covered the ESC and fan with it. Helps but didn't eliminate it. After I added the fan over the ESC is when I got the most glitching, and twisting wires seemed to make the glitching worse. Someone else mentioned that they didn't get any glitching with the Novak XXtra so I have one on the way from Tower to try. If it doesn't work I'll just return it.

What do you think about your brushless system on your pede.I would think it would probably suite a T4 or one of those type trucks better than a pede.I have a hard time controling my pede with the 12t motor on it,can't imagine with a 5800 brushless on it.You got a video posted,I would love to see this thing go Wes.
