Need Help: Starting RC Racing
Hi, I am kind of a newbie to RC racing. I would like to purchase a kit or maybe an RTR package. I would like to know what kits are good and such. I have been reading on the TC4. I might get the Factory Team kit of that, or the Team kit. If I were to buy that, could you recomend some servos, motors, esc and radios for that. Thanks, The Dope!

RE: Need Help: Starting RC Racing
if ure new to rc, race stock first off, but get a capable esc for mod. if ure going to spend high dollar in a touring car, we need your preset limit on the kit alone!
i myself would get a Mi2, Tifk1(i think thats what its called - its an xray car), pro4 hara edi., or possibly the xx-s g+

Well I am trying not to spend over $200, but I can go to about $250 car without electronics. I found a TC4 Team Kit for $200 shipped on eBay. I will go with a stock motor for starting. But could you recomend some good stock motors that have power. And are those good esc becuase they seem cheap.

HPI pro4
ESC/Motor: novak ss 5800
Radio: 3pm-tfs
Thats a wining combo right there... Although it will cost around... 300 + 200 + 250... 750$
Man this hobby is exspensive, thats a basic set up[] I would exspect to spend around 500$ on any R/C you buy on a 'ready to race' level. And thats just a rolling chassis with esc/motor.

Here is what I have so far:
[link=http://h1069872.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=ASC30100]The TC4 Rolling Chassis[/link]
[link=http://h1069872.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=TRIRC2141]Trinity Monster Horsepower Stock Pro[/link]
[link=http://h1069872.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=ASCLRP83010]AI Quantum Runner Reverse[/link]
I am thinking of getting the JR XR2i. Is that good? And if not please recomend a good one, but remember it must not be expensive since I am pressed for cost. Also what batteries and charger should I get?

If cost is a issue these two radios are rather cheap and have a nice few features.

FM is the only way to go if your racing 1. because of its range and accurescy (sp) 2. because it has many more channels than FM. I think antskeered found a mx3 fm for around 100$

RE: Need Help: Starting RC Racing
Most clubs require it, or if they dont you have to run in a specal class usualy called a 'beginner class'
Could be, but most likely is not, and even if it was good electronics are good electronics no matter what.

RE: Need Help: Starting RC Racing
He said he was on a budget and a good radio is nice but it not going to make him win it's all driver skill and setup mostly.
What we did where I lived there is 8 of us with street cars so we went to a hardware store bought a bunch of 1x2 and
built a track using brackets and screws so we can build it in about 20mins and then take it apart when were done.
There is a guy there who runs a brushless motor and I run a P2k2. he uses a expensive remote and I use a blazer
sport and I can still keep up with him.

RE: Need Help: Starting RC Racing
Well here is our track we race on:

We only have about 8 racers usually for each race, and there are a whole lot of classes as you know, Nitro, Electric stock, Electric modified, etc.
