RE: Alloy B2 Diff Gear Help
Why do you want a metal one? The B2's (or any AE car for that matter) stock gears should hold up to pretty much anything. I've never stripped a gear (not counting spurs) in any of my AE cars.

fugazliv, we have the same problem. We were talking in a another post. A guy at my lhs was able to find 1 and only 1 from one of his distributors. It is on its way. My best advice is call around to hobby shops and see what you come up with. Good luck!

Speed,
Yeah, i figured that i would start a dedicated thread to locating one, because if I am, are you are looking too, there there are prolly more like us, it may help them too...
As far as hobby shops go, you gotta have one around to call...
JKR, yep, i know the stock AE stuff is good, and i'll be using them untill i find a metal one. I like the building process as much as the racing and bashing. So, if i find one, cool, if not i'll figure something else out...

Ahhh yes, The HGI delemma. Several of us have tried to contact HGI, but to no avail. Phone, email, you name it, they don't seem to want to answer. Maybe they are restructuring the company or something...

Yes Firebird, welcome to our world! Honestly, this almost makes me want to sell my evader and go with a car that has metal gearbox hop ups available. I e-mailed Duratrax asking if since they have a metal idler, if a metal diff was in the making. They werent very forthcoming, but the answer seemed to be NO. I hope the one on the way for me lasts a long time!

i feel the same. i wouldn't sell my vader, but i have been thinking of getting another truck just because of this tranny. i realy think the metal diff gear would solve my problims. i've tryed adjusting this thing and no matter how tight the adjustment is(without locking up the diff) it just spins the diff gear creating so much heat it melts[&o]

sleepy, 20 bucks is cool by me. Cost isn't an issue, for the most part. I just don't want to spend $150 to have one machined.

firebird, thats the idler that I use. Diff is still up in the air, there is a guy selling HGI Metal Diff Gears on ebay, but his auction doesn't state what they are actually for, and he doesn't know either. I bought one anyway, and I hope I get lucky. We'll see I guess...

RE: Alloy B2 Diff Gear Help
Fugaz, good luck with that auction. My lhs is Racetek Hobbies (631) 476-6906. I picked up mine today! I counted the teeth and it actually has 48, not 49 like we all thought. This is good because now it's exactly the same size, and we know the internal ratio will stay 2.66. Anyway, he was only able to find one, so I don't think you'll have much luck there. Hopefully he can help in some way. Let us know how that gear from ebay works out.
