I thought I was sold on the pede...
I've been looking to get into hobby grade R/C for a while since I was very disappointed with Radio Shack (junk) R/Cs. I was looking at an electric Stampede for a while but I'm afraid that I will end up disappointed with performance again (even with mods). I want a truck that will run easily in my backyard/woods/wherever I take it and do small jumps. I think that the electric route will not fulfill my expectations. Plus, I've always been interested in nitros and their performance, so now I'm thinking about a T-Maxx. Any input/advice anyone? Thanks!

You won't be dissapointed with a pede I race a tc3 and have a very fast drag car and enjoy the pede very much! I put a 19 turn trinity motor that cost $50 and this truck flies. I could probably keep up with a t maxx! It will pull the wheels from a dead stop!!

Nitro's are one big pain in the butt. Unless you enjoy working/tuning them before every other run, then nitros aren't for you.
I own a nitro evader and a stampede, and have driven a t-maxx. To me, electric is more of my thing because of its simplicity.
Now, I do enjoy tuning, but most people don't and don't like to have to buy nitro fuel every month.
I just like the idea of electric is always going to turn on, no matter the weather. Nitro is fun to a certain extent, but when they won't start or your engine blows then the $$$ just goes down and down.
If I were you, I'd get a stampede and t-maxx.
But compared to radioshack cars, you will NOT be dissapointed with the stampede. It is more durable than the maxx, and with a few upgrades, can easily be made faster than the maxx.

First, let me say that I would be using the truck for bashing (light bashing, jumps, but not any insane jumps that would definitely result in broken parts). Now, I am concerned with speed, but also with drivability. It looks as if the T-Maxx can handle hills/loose dirt/high grass without getting bogged down, whereas the Stampede can't. Also, I would love snow bashing, and if I were to go brushless (to get better power), I wouldn't be able to run it in the snow. Thanks for the responses so far and keep 'em coming!

You know the Pede can safley handle WAAAAAY bigger jumps than that. When just bashing around I will set up jumps that get about 4ft of air, but I have jumped it to about 8 ft and didn't brake.

Traxxas Nitro engines are unreliable at best. They are a pain to tune, run hot and idle erratically.
I have both nitro and electric trucks and buggies. I really prefer the brushless powered electric over the nitros.

You definately won't be disappointed with a Stampede man. They are very fun trucks to run and have alot of hop ups available for them. I've had more expensive and better quality trucks before but the Stampede is definately the most fun to run without haveing to worry about breaking anything.

I had a nitro Savage, and it was cool except for the fact that it's nitro. I hated having to fiddle with the engine every time I went out to 'play'. I sold it and now I just have a soon-to-be brushless T4 and a Lunchbox. Between those two, I have all the fun I need. I ended up putting on Masher 2000's on the T4 and with all the other hop-ups, it's a low-profile monster truck that can jump with the best of them! Once that GTB 5.5 arrives, I'll be able to blow the doors on my friends Revo! I can't wait...

First off, the T-maxx is complete and total trash, not even worth 20 bux. It may be popular, but it is crap. A better truck would be a revo, which is both faster, and better quality. It will out climb pretty much every nitro, and it mustn't be upgraded right off the bat. You can lower it for street driving, and raise it for tackling the terrain. Basically, it owns the T-maxx, and it will outrun a pede, while being more stable, and having the advantage of 4wd
