HPI RS4 MT fighting motor HEAT !!
Well, as all of you know I wanted to race my rs4 mt last weekend. Tried that.. but found out that the motor (11x2 revolution) was way too hot in there and I had to do something. So, I cut open the cab and put screens in there to prevent rocks from entering but still let air come in.
I also ordered some memory heatsinks for computers and will stick them on the motor plate and I also got 2 fans, a 30mm and a 40mm 5v fan that I will hook up directly to my receiver and activate via my 3rd channel.
I don't know which of the 2 fans I'll use.
Here are some pics. Will get the fan and heatsinks tomorrow !!
Can't wait.

I also ordered the slipper clutch kit and some graphite a-arms. Because the truck was bouncy with the al ones... I had to put too hard springs and too much oil weight to keep it level I'll put some 25 in there and lugnut t tires with HPI 2196 rims ! BLACK baby !
The slipper clutch will help me save the RRP diffs as well. The lugnut tires I already run on the track on my xxxt and they are awesome. On the specific track I run at, they are slightly better than step pins as they empty dirt quicker and bite harder.
Here are pics of both.

Does it work though? I think thats the main concern here. The screens put in look really nice though. They really do look cool though. It really doesnt look like the fan is held in too securely but I cant really tell just by juding from the pics. Does the fan move around alot when you run it? That could render the fan useless if its not blowing air on the motor!

The fan is SOLID it will not rock in either way. I just ran it outside and it held on REALLY securely...
I'm not worried about that at all. I'm more worried if it's gonna work at all. I'll be able to tell in a week when I try to race it again. I should have my slipper and graphite arms by then. I also added some heatsinks on the motor plate.

it could also be the sheer weigh of the truck...that is a bit of alum. and cutting some of that will help. ii looks like the diffs are alum. too fin some ball diffs (i think they make them for it) that will lighten up the roatating mass. and that should help some with the heat problem.

Yeah, I know all that... For your information, the al diffs you see in there are already ball diffs !
I'll be putting some graphite a arms in there and changing springs and oil to 25w....

you should be able to duct in thru the side of the body to force air into the motor fan. i will have to look at mine sometime to make sure though.

Yeah, I guess that it would help, less rotating mass. The fun in the robinson ones is that they are pretty much indestructible and stand up to TONS of abuse without barking... So, I kinda like that as well. This truck is a real tank. I saw fear in the 4x4 buggy class guys last time I put it on track. They're afraid that if they stall at the end of the strech i'm just going to cut them in half when I run into them... heheheh

Hello, I have a question for you. What is that thing mounted on the rear of the rear shock tower? I have a RS4 MT and don't have one of those. Thanks
