Default Maxamps 4k's rock!

I just got my 4K pack in from Maxamps today. Got it built, then equalized it, then peaked it (these high capacity cells take FOREVER to charge [:@] ).

And, just ran it for the first time, very impressive. Ever bit as good as, if not better than, my matched Gp3300's.

I'm gonna try to get some more speed readings today using this pack. The best I got with the others was 42mph so if it can match that or do better I'll be plenty satisfied.

I hit 41mph with it just a few minutes ago but that was going into the wind (it's VERY, VERY, windy today) and after already doing 10+ WOT passes out in the street. The wind seems to have died down some so once it finishes repeaking I'm gonna take it back out and see what it can really do.

What run time do you get now with these vs your gp3300s on your Sphere/neo 3star?

Runtimes, don't know, haven't timed it. Will do some runtime comparisons over the weekend.

Assuming I was getting 10 minutes on the 3300's, the 4K's should give something like 12-13 minutes. I don't think I was getting 10 minutes on the 3300's though, runtime is pretty poor with the brushless setup. Well, it's not what I'm used to anyways, normally I would run either a 13x3 or 15x3.

I did some more runs earlier and got 42mph a couple times in a row. I think it could do 43mph if I could get a good reading on the first pass, usually takes one or two tries before I can get a reading (kinda hard to drive with one hand and use a radar gun with the other ).

I know one thing, it sure accelerates a lot faster with these cells as it's topping out a lot sooner than it was with my other packs.

We never said that they were a terrible product. Just marketed by a terribly dishonest company.

If that's the same cell that Alex tested, and turned down for distribution as I understood it, it has a great initial voltage, well over 1.2v. But, about a minute in, it drops to about 1.14v and just tapers off. Not saying it's the same cell, but he said the picture looked right. Personally, and this is NOTHING against Maxamps, I'll stick with GP's or IB's. Hell, I still haven't bought an IB cell lol

The voltage does drop off but I wouldn't say it's any worse than any of my other packs, a few minutes into the run I checked the speed again and got 38-39mph. Sounds about normal to me, no?

I also checked the speed towards the very end of the pack (just before it dumped) got 35mph.

Jakjr,
Have you ever run an IB cell? (No disrespect intended whatsoever). I'm just wondering for comparison purposes, as I have run both, and found the IB to be a much better cell...

Yes, I have a matched IB 3600 pack that was well over $50, it blows.

Never tried the 3800's though, I have been told they are a lot better.

<Just thinking about how long it would take to charge the matched GP 4300s. Pretty darn pricy too.>

These cells are getting better after each cycle....

Dropped on a new pinion today (20t kimbrough ultramesh, these baby's are sweet, even if they do cost $5 each) and hit a new top speed of 44-45mph on the 4K's! (best I did with the 19t pinion was 42mph). Surprisingly enough, It was still able to pull wheelies just as easily as it did with the 19t pinion, gotta love the brushless .

Anyways, the cells are running even better than they were, they're holding their punch longer, AND my top speed stayed at 41-42mph until about the last 30 seconds of the run when the pack started dumping (that's only a 3mph drop from the speed it was running at with the cells freshly peaked).

People can say whatever they want about these cells, but IMHO they're great.

Right his cell might be good, no one is saying they're not. It's his marketing that some people have a problem with.

Believe me, I have looked around, I probably read more posts in one day than 95% of the people here do in five:

Because the voltage drops form 1.25 to 1.14 within 30 secconds...
Get the BoomBoom's IB3800 assembled...
Yea they are.Oh yea there a catch alright there crap.
These cells have a funny resemblence to a cell that I tested that hit 1.18-1.19.... Strange!
etc. etc.

don't try to talk sense into viper 15... he just had the entire board tell him what type of charger not to buy, and then he went out and bought it :P

Jakjr: I hadn't seen most of those posts, most of what i had seen were people complaning about marketing not the cells. I have some of Austins cells and they are good for the price. Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part.

No problem.

IMHO yes, they are worth the price. I paid less for them than I paid for my GP3300's and performance is right on par (actually, the 4K's are better acceleration wise). With the exception of the punch, they lose their punch faster than my 3300's do.

How do they compare with boomboom's 3800. I mean the numbers look about the same.
