Traxxas Sledgehammer?!?!?!?!?!
My friend Mason H. bought a Kyosho Big Boss(Atleast 20 years old!) for $20 Canadian. I was looking at buying something to race with him. I am probably going to buy the Traxxas Sledgehammer(Older technology but new enough that I know how it works) I was just wondering about a few of things.
1)Are the hexes the same on the Sledgehammer as the Rustler or Stampede?
2)How much should I expect to pay for one?(Canadian prices if possible)
3)What would it take to make it water proof?
4)Is this motor faster than the stinger? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBSU9&P=7 (I realize it is a higher turn number but I have heard that aftermarket motors even with a higher turn number are often faster aswell as more tourque than the stock motor the car comes with)

1. I don't know
2. I would just buy a stampede instead cause they're only $150 USD
3. buy an LRP esc (most of their esc's are waterproof or seal the esc with putex)
4. I'm pretty sure it is faster although the reedy quad mag is a lot better

I don't want a pede because then its not vintage!!! Thats the whole reason for buying the Sledgehammer plus the Sledgehammer is cheaper.(If I wanted a Pede I would just convert my Rusty) I'm not trying to start a flame war and dont get me wrong I appreaciate the help but I just want the Sledgehammer.(Or something else vintage)

Cool that you want to go vintage, but I don't think many people here run vintage electrics (except for discgolfer72, who has an awesome 20 year old buggy). To waterproof the electronics you can dip them in liquid plastic (available at home improvement centers) then trim to make sure everything moves properly.

Ya I knew about that way I just haven't seen anything like Plasti-Dip in my area so I think I'm just going to buy an LRP waterproof ESC and a radio box for all my radio gear etc and seal it up with silicone. As for the switch I think I will either get a switch boot on it and hope that works or connect the two switch wires together(No switch) and it will automatically turn on when you plug in the battery. Any other suggestions?

My dad has a sledgehammer but it's pretty badly beat up. I like that it has 8 shocks [8D].
I just looked at the wheels, and they're different than the hex adapter setup found on my stampede. The front wheels ride on bearings and the rear are some sort of "star" pattern. Looks the same as other vintage monster truck wheels.

You might want to think about sealing it with grease. Silicone seal means you will have to rip up the seal to get at the electronics. Grease seal would be water-tight but obviously makes it easy to remove.

yup gm72 ive got some pimp daddy vintage stuff lil_man_maas id recomend getting an orignal rc10 or a old losi xx they bolth still have parts avail and can be made to haul @$$ yhe losi has a little better handeling but the rc10 is real fast and is a tank (40mph into a brick wall and nothing broke)

Yeah but grease is messy as hell, just use a baloon then put it in a radio box, search for a thread on it...they have ways you can wp your servos with balloons too.

They sure don't make things as durable as they used to. I don't really want a buggy though my friend has a 2wd monster truck so I want something similar to it. I know of one I might buy though and I know its older because its all white!
