Default tower hobbies instant savings?

Tower currently has a "save $30.00 instantly off your $199 order" deal. I am looking to get into R/C with a Stampede and this is the higest instant savings I have seen. However, I want to wait until I can get the best deal being that I'm 17 yrs old and I have a 1:1 car (Subaru Legacy GT) that I have to pay to take care of. Is the instant savings ever the same as or higher than $30?

Around christmas time they have the best deals, but it usually is around 30 bucks off of 200.

Just before this, they had $25 off $150 - that's slightly better, but not much. it also depends if you're spending closer to $150 or $200 I guess.

bottom line - $30 off $199 is still a great deal

yep adding in the cost of a decent battery/charger you'll be over $199 for sure.

This is at or near the best offer thay have. Last month's $25 off $150 orders is as good as it gets. Their deals are usually 10-12% off. This months deal is 15% off.

I think they did a $40 off thing last March but you had to spend quite a bit before you got that discount. It was part of that "ladder" discount they ran for a while.
I've been a member of their "Super Saver" club for a while now and when you combine the sales and free shipping you can save more. Also, the scratch and dent deals can be really good if your timings right. I've saved some really good $$$ when combining scratch & dent, sales and free shipping

I bet you could look on ebay and find a stampede with upgrades cheaper then a stock one off of TH. I won some headphones 2 nights ago for $.01, yep a penny!!!

If 30:200 ratio was applied, for a 1000 dollar order you should get 150 off, but i guess it doesn't work that way.

I gave up on finding a decently priced used on there... Note I said decent. They get bid up way too high for used IMO... Upgrades aren't worth anything. Try trading your car in with them.

How much was shipping on those penny headphones????

Seriously, there are good deals on e-bay and there is some complete crap too. The ones you have to be careful of are the ones that have been "upgraded and in great shape". I just picked one of those up last week, an Evader ST Pro, and by the time I'm done fixing what's broken and worn out I'll not be much more ahead than if I'd have bought new. The thing is, I don't think that the guy was trying to rip me I just think his ideas of "great shape" and mine are two different things. I'm not complaining I know that e-bay is a gamble, I'm just pointing out one of the pitfalls of not buying new.

Wow, another pretty good deal... $20 off an order of $125 - that means this month's deal is 16% off!

It's hard to support your local hobby shop with discounts like this.

Stampede's are awesome, there's a lot of upgrades for the future, can drive over almost any terrain, and just plain fun.

I don't think ANYONE considering buying a pede would have racing in mind... pede's are bashers plain and simple. What makes you think he's gonna keep it stock and take it to the track???

Regarding Tower: they ALWAYS have deals like that. If its not $30 off 199, its 20 off 125, or what not. So don't worry too much about the discounts. Actually the deal going on right now is better (percentage wise). 20/125=16% off vs 30/199=15% off.

If you are going to put in a big order, split it up into multipe orders to max out your savings. example: I just bought $450 worth of stuff, so I split it into three orders and saved $60 instead of just $20. And definitely sign up for the super saver club. Free shipping is a huge plus. good luck with your pede.
