Default ESC Question

hi all

dont know if i will get any repies, but here we go.

i have a rtr tt-01 at the moment, and only had the upgrade berings, and i want to upgrade the electronics, i have a esc lieing about that is made for a boat, its a Marine 15 Speed Controller but a want to know if it sutable to work with cars and car motors, 540, or am i going to have to bye a new one. made for cars.

If the boat had a 550 motor it should work fine but as Kostaktinos mt said post the specs so we can be sure.

looks like it should work fine. does it have a heatsink or is it set up for watercooling?

i doubt it will work fine IMO. with 15amps current limit, you MAY get away with the stock mabuchi RS540SH motor. anything more and will either burn out either the motor will run poorly. these ESCs [marine] are made to be used for high-efficiency large motors [such as graupner 600 or 700BB]. since it has overload protection, you might try it as well.

yeah a 15 amp limit isn't much and at the hit of the throttle you could easily go over that. I'd buy one made for a car. You can get one that will handle down to 12 turn motor for about $38.00 from tower hobbies.

actually 15amps is the continuous current tolerance. the maximum [instant] would be around 60amps or so. thats about the same as with all stock escs [27-23t motors]. that marine esc would work fine as long as it is used with a stock motor.

a desent car speed controler.
