cheap chargers?
I have an IB 3600 battery and I have a peak charger, but it's not very good. Also I have noticed that my runtimes have gone down a little bit and that punch is missing. Ive only had these batteries for a few weeks, I hope that I don't have to waste my money to buy a new battery and charger because I don't have any money

RE: cheap chargers?
I have an MRC super brain 819. I got it a while ago and it just blinks when it says the battery is done. No fancy screens or dials or anything I heard the Duratrax Ice Intellipeak is good. Is it cheaper then the one dokioto mentioned??

the ice costs around 130$. if you are on a budget, go for the duratrax digital piranha [50$]. big bang for the buck... not a pro, but definately what the average basher needs...

RE: cheap chargers?
i got my vision peak ultra for $99 with a mini battery for my mlst. It has the capability to charge li-po as well as the usual ni-cd and ni-mh. Most cheap chargers cant do lipo. It has an lcd screen and has alot of features at an affordable price. Definately a great basher charger, im sure ofnaDOMINATION! will agree.

The MRC Super Brain 959 is hands down the best entrance priced charger.
Peak charge, 4.5A charge, LCD screen with voltage value, time of charge, etc, selectable delta peak, it can't be beat for 45$ (tower price).
I have one and have nothing negative to say about it.

I'm pretty sure those problems were on the earlier units but have been corrected since.
I bought mine off TowerHobbies in december, my LCD has never become unclear and I only falsed peaked on new packs, no false peak since and I don't run the charger over a fan either. I even charged batteries consecutively and it still didn't false peak or mess up the LCD.

RE: cheap chargers?
If you get a super brain get the 969 and HIGHER do NOT get the 959 it has a LOT of problems that WILL occur over time if you don't run it over a fan and it will STILL happen if you DO
Now if you have the dough (220 with my dream ICE setup) get the ICE
130 for the ICE

Great power supply

The superbrain 977 is a great charger, it does li-po, ni-mh, and ni-cd. It can also discharge and charge 2 batteries at once. I shoulda did my research before I bought mine but I was anxious. They both are great chargers. The ice is nice for competiotion but for everyday bashing its just impractical.

I have to say that the 959 in one of the worst chargers in it's class. I know from experience, I also know that the 969 is a nice charger. I used one temporarily and looking for another one. You cant go wrong with it.

RE: cheap chargers?
depends on the current charging rate that you are using, and on the charge rate that you will be using with the good charger. the good thing with the good chargers, is that you have less worries and [usually] more battery lifespan [longetivity] since a good charger treats your packs better.

a bit difficult to see noticeable performance difference with your current packs [doesn`t matter that much what charger you use]. however, i strongly recommend a good charger once again. it will extend the packs` lifespan, will leave you with less worries to think about, and you will experience better performance [punch] with better packs along with a good charger.

Yes. Discharging is absolutely that important. If you want to maintain good runtimes and punch you should always discharge before charging. Also make sure you are storing your battery (if it is NiMh) with a 50% charge. You could cycle your pack a few times to get some of the capacity back into it to. Higher charge rates will increase punch and lower charge rates will increase runtime. Alot of the guys at the track will charge their packs at 3.5 to 4 amps and the repeak them at 6 amps after they cool down to get a little extra punch on a fresh pack. I use a Dynamite Prophet Plus LCD charger and I love it for the price($60 at horizonhobby.com). Only problem is that you need a seperate discharger.
