ss4300 brushless motor maintenance question?
Hi guys,
I just open my ss4300 motor to oil the bearing and cleaning out the dirt. My question is should i try to clean the magnet and rotor too (or whatever that called inside the can)? I don't want to damage it so do guys have idea opinion on whether u should blow on it or just leave it alone?
Thanks

I always wipe mine off when it's out of the can and it hasn't caused me any trouble. It's magnetic, so it draws a lot of shavings etc. I would clean it.

Thanks.
By the way, I think I remember in one of your post that you have the BK 7020 and Nemesis 6S set up in one of your car. How is that going so far? Do you like it better than the sphere, neo combo?

RE: ss4300 brushless motor maintenance question?
The BK 7020/Nemesis 6S set-up is crazy-fast...too fast. In order to get it to run good, without cogging, I have to run it on 7 cells. The low end is still not that good, but I haven't been able to give it an honest chance because of my lack of pinions. The motor has a 5mm shaft and came with a 23T pinion, which is way too big for a normal sized track. It's not the motor that I ordered, so the retailer is going to replace the entire setup (should be here anyday). That said, I'm going to sell the set-up as new (which it will be). For me, I just don't see the use. The Sphere/Neo is better at low speeds and more suited to racing, which is what I do most of the time. If you want an honest review of the BK/6S set-up, I'd say it's a bashers dream. Awesome speed and torque. In a T4, you can pull wheelies (or easily flip it over) at 20mph. Top speed will approach 50mph. A definite nitro beater.

Thanks HappyWing, that was the answer i was looking for. I only bash since there is no track around where I live. I want somethign that I could beat my uncle's nitro[>:] Does the T4 has the same spur as the MF2? And when you say 5mm shaft is that the same as regular motor? I mean do I need special pinion for it? By the way, how much would you sell your BK/6S setup?
Doahh, got it

yeah neomidyum magnets and water make it so fragile it breaks apart at max RPM
already broke one magnet not going through another
Are you in northern CA or southern?

Do those warnings on water and magnet also apply to brushed motor's magnets and motor cleaner?
I sprayed it inside my motors and it's dripping with liquid when I'm done (although it is not water).
Are the magnet safe when sprayed with motor cleaner?

RE: ss4300 brushless motor maintenance question?
Alright, that's good to know. My LHS didn't warn me about that, I specifically asked them if it was safe to douse my motor in motor cleaner and they said yes, everywhere was ok and wouldn't damage anything...
Does anyone know if the Orion Revolution modified 12x2 uses neomidyum magnets? (just got it, haven't cleaned it yet so I need to know)

But wait, isn't G13 the model/type of magnet and neomidyum the actual material used for some magnets? Maybe they are not exclusive of each other?
Unless you know for sure?
Just want to make completely sure as I really don't want to ruin my new nice expensive motor.

Alright, with a name like that I bet they can't be hydrophobic lol
All jokes aside though anyone know why they have "wet" in the name?

these magnets are called 'boron ferrite'. they can get as wet as you want. lol. but yeah, neodynium will crack due to molecular polarity redirection. so keep brushless out of water at all times. brushed motors with neodynium magnets are rare to see. actually most pro racers swap the stock [brushed motor`s] magnets with neodynium ones [many online stores sell them for 540 cans], but as i said its rare to see neodynium magnets in a factory-new brushed motor.
