RE: vintage rc official old school thread
I saw the title of this thread and had to post this.
Today, I was at a hobby shop, and dude walks in, with a comb over hair style, and says "I need some parts for a JRX2".
My jaw dropped, haven't heard that since 1990. I said "you've got a JRX2? I used to have one back in the day".
He replied, "yes, and I still race it. But I don't race the JRXT that I have, it's for bashing"
Oh my god, how cool is that for us old skoolers?
And don't even get me started on the ad that Car Action used to run where Gil Losi Jr was standing next to a car (ended up being the JRX2), the lighting in the picture was dim, and they had a towel over the car. All you could make out was that it was a car that was being unveiled soon. You guys remember that? From `89 I think?

Ya, I had one myself, but it was far after my first. I had 6 or 8 cars before TL made cars, LOL.
I bought my first in 84-85, a Tamiya Fox....

Nice! I started with a grasshopper. My buddy had a Frog, and my other buddy had a fox. We were a Tamiya posse. Then we got rid of the cars for a monster beetle and blackfoot.

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
I am posting to find out if there is any interest or groups involving themselves with some of the older designs, such as the Tamia stuff, Grasshopper, Clodhopper etc.
I am an airplane guy, but have aquired a bunch of new parts for some of these, and I am trying to find if there is any interest / market for this stuff as it is of little use to me. Items come from a closed hobby shop. I purchased remaining inventory, hoping for airplane stuff, but other than a couple of kits, it was mostly car stuff. I packed it all away, and have sat on it for several years, but thought this forum might find me some enthusiasts who can make use of the stuff.
thanks for any input

PS: I have posted this message as a New thread under 'cars and buggies and under general discusion. then I spotted this thread. sounds like I found the right guys...

monkey
it is a HPI body...
it is called "Baja Bug"
Part # 7154
I stripped it to the chasis yesterday and redoing the restoration[X(]
I carbon fiber'd the chasis and polishes every nut and bolt, braided the wires from the esc to receiver and 50% will be new parts..
here is a b4 and after shot of the chasis..

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
I can't remember if I posted some more recent links to my RC10 and Mid SE or not...so here are a couple. I'm also currently painting a new Viper style body for the RC10 that fits it better (the current body it came with doesn't quite fit right). I've also blacked out the windows on the body shown, so will have to update those pics too.
I'd post thumbnails, but I don't have any yet...

very nice cars....they look in great shape...do you run them?
Disc, isnt it great when you beat someone with a new car with your old ones... I beat a Duratrax Evader and a Tamiya Baja King the other day..LOL
I broke a shock mount which fired up my new restoration but non-the-less It won...
Cheers

RE: vintage rc official old school thread
thats a good rule of thumb
basicaly u just need to make shure your tranny and bearings are in good working order the motor causes drag so it cnat be done with the motor in
if it spins freely fo a decent amount of time 5-10 sec its prob ok
