Great thread!! My friend just gave my son an old rc 10 Team assoc buggy minus a few parts, I was thinking of making this thing a speed demon for the street and gravel roads, he already has an Evader with MT tires and rims so we'll leave that for the rough stuff, would like to make this rc 10 so that when I fool around with my FG ST in a parking lot he can hang with me so 35mph is what I am looking for POSSIBLE? What setup??

well if u want speed with out spending an arman a leg hit up ebay for a low turn brushed motor (little more maintness than brushless but more speed for your money) your gonna at least want a 11-12 turn motor (reedy and trinity are bolth good companys and if u look on ebay u can get for around 20$)

i run a reedy ultra 11 turn and a trinity speed gems 9t in my super fast cars

then u need a awsome no limit esc u can get a ripmax xtra no limit esc for 40 bucks at their website or search ebay for an old tekin esc 410s2 or better is what i reccomend (same deal look on ebay can be gotten for under 40$)
as u can see if uve seen any of my speedy vids im def breaking 35

only other sugg i have if ur mainly going onroad your gonna want the setup im running on my color change chassis car the oarts list is one or two pages back also u might want to get a diffrent spur gear if u still have a stock one (stock makes it hard to gear with the wide track upgrade

it improves the cornering/handeling by 100 %

I was thinking brushless I will spend some money on it but not all at once! What about lipo batteries? And what options do I have with the bodies? I also gotta bag full of tires and wheels that I haven't looked at yet, I think I will strip it down and get to painting and fiddling. It looks like it needs a driveshaft on one side(has a wobble) and I was going to rip into the tranny and make sure all is well there, can parts be had for a tranny new or do I need to search Ebay??

the tranny is built pretty tough (ive never had any tranny problems with the tranny itself) i dont know about gears but the thrust bearing and some other parts are still avail (also there are some ebay sellers selling new parts there is one guy that only sells old rc10 stuff)

as for lipo/brushless if thats the way ur gonna go it will work but a brushless system thats gonna get u the speeds u want isnt gonna be cheap (probaly around 300 bucks)

i have yet to be beaten at my local track in a all out speed contest by a brushless system (thats running 6 cells brushed/brushless)

disc I ordered the parts on your list, Ya I got your warning if ya wanna play ya gotta pay. A lot of stuff was backordered and some even discontinued like the spur gear. I did find a spur gear in the box O parts and even pinions, I am concentrating on getting the chassis parts and once I get a rolling chassis again I will look into the motor and speed control. By the way do you have a part number for the turnbuckles I will need since I am going WIDER?

tbolt
i warned u that some parts were hard to get the one i had the most trouble with was the the front nose peice took me hours on the net before i finaly fooound a site that stocked it
if ur doing the full truck conversion id not use the stock spur it makes it really hard to gear with the large tires . i would get a nice kimbrough spur

im not quite shure of the turnbuckle part #'s i can measure them for u if u want the size
also here is one part thats not in the full conversion list thast u will need
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX2929&P=7

if u dont have a manual here is the rc10 manual
http://www.theshreves.com/rc_stuff/manuals/ae_rc10/

and in here are the pdf manuals of the rc10 and the rc10 t so u can see the parts diffrents

yeh my brother (who raced the car when he was younger) said he always noticed it going faster when he cleaned the motor he also said he raced agains an r10 and beat it quite easily but i think it just depends on the motor he said tamiyas were easy but some team losis beat him
