RE: Aluminum wheels
don't buy them!!! They look all cool and everything but if you drive your car, as in not shelf queen, and smash into something the rim will almost certainly bend (aluminum is very bendable) and also you'll be adding to the rotating mass...

RE: Aluminum wheels
Most of the alum. wheels I have seen are very very durable. Much more durable than the plastic ones. However, they are heavier than the plastic ones. I have only seen them on e-maxx's and t-maxx's. They do look cool but they do add rotating mass. If you aren't concerned about speed or performance then go for it. Just remember they will slow you down.

RE: Aluminum wheels
and they cost like $180!!!! For that money I think you should get a BL system or stock up on good batteries or buy a nice radio. I mean $180 for wheels? Nothing says awesome in R/C more than a sweet ESC, motor, or radio...

RE: Aluminum wheels
My LHS has them and they go for sixty bucks a set (4). Some people seem to like them. I think they look cool but I can get plastic ones that cost under ten so that is good enough for me.
CA glue will glue them fine and when the tires wear out you just need to use some acetone to release the glue and they are ready for new tires.

RE: Aluminum wheels
I know all of the drawbacks of aluminum wheels. The truck will primarily be a show truck but I will run it gently from time to time. I already have about $350 worth of aluminum parts for it so weight is a concern I let go of long ago. Should I scuff the rims first or will the CA stick to them smooth?

RE: Aluminum wheels
You could scuff them up but I don't think you would need to unless the area is polished, which it shouldn't be. I wouldn't really worry about it.
Post some pics when you get it done.

RE: Aluminum wheels
Does anyone know where I can find aluminum rims for a TC5? They are the same as a TC4, 26mm. I'm sick of wobbly plastic rims. I found a site called crazy nut racing that has some but someone said they are scammers.

For aluminum rims, why not get beadlock type rims?!

Where can I find them for 26mm onroad? I've been going crazy trying to find some type of rims that are actually round...

Thanks Luchboxer! Yeah I need Touring car wheels, but I do have a T4 as well so I will check out what they have. If anyone knows of a good place to get aluminum wheels for TC's let me know.
