Default Battery 4200 burns up

I have a Trinity 6C 4200 Stick Pack Zapped Sport battery and i run it in a rustler with 5.5 gtb with masher 2000 tires. I ran it for like 10 minutes and the pack burned strait through the end of the pack. this is the second time this has happend with the same brand of batteries.

What is the problem.

I'm not sure if this is 100% correct, but I believe that if you have a motor with a high amp pull (the 5.5 is definitely one of those), then you need to run pretty good batteries. The stick pack you are using may not be able to handle the amp draw from the motor, and this could (Im not sure how) cause the battery to overheat. You should also check to make sure that the motor isn't getting too hot, because if it is, then that means that you might be over geared or undergeared. Check the gearing chart that came with the motor and also ask Traxxas about what gear (pinion) you should use.

I also have a 5.5, but I use a RC10T4. I use mostly matched packs (not stick packs) that have a high voltage rating, and they warm up a little, but definitely don't overheat.

Usually it is the "rear" or end battery bar that'll melt because it is too thin. Replacing the bar with a battery matcher's bar is easy work and the rest of the pack will melt somewhat way later on.
