Yeah, one of the big reasons why I am all for Tamiyas.. as I grew up with them!! I am only now buying kits that I couldn't afford back then..

what a great idea. I need to start paying better attention to the old stuff.

I might try to pick up a monster beetle to. ha ha.... I loved those things!

firstrc:

I Love the Monster Beetle. Second car I owned - but I always wanted a Frog so I converted it to a Frog but left the big tires. They have yet to re-re the Monster Beetle, but I bet is just a matter of time before the do.

They still make the chassis and the body - and the tires. To me it is a no brainer.

Wish I could figure out exactly how those oil shocks are mounted. It looks like an E-ring holds the top end in place? I wonder what was done to the shock caps to allow that to work?

Does that make it a "midnight-hornet" or a "box-hopper"?

Nice job, SK!
I remember seeing a pic once of a Tamiya buggy that had both a swing arm AND independent suspension in the rear. Anyone remember its name?[sm=confused.gif]

Those wheels look like the ones on the Traxxas Sledgehammer.

...and the suspension was like if Stampede killer had kept the original swingarm suspension in addition to the new independent one.

You can say that again. I see the car and I'm thinking"WTH did they do to it?". The song is very appropriate.
