It depends. When you say battery life do you mean how many times you can charge it before it craps out, or how long does each charge last. The newer packs aren't that expensive like the ib 3800s or the gp 3300s (about 30 to 40 dollars a piece) Those batteries should last a few thousand charges, and anywhere from 15-20 minutes with a good brushless system. Dont buy ni-cad batteries, buy nimh batteries because they last longer than nicd batts. Hope this helps a little bit.

WOW, they have extremely cheap 7.2V batteries [X(]! Two 3800mAh's for $40? Wow..

Well actually the mah is how long it lasts so 3800 cheapo's should last almost as long as the expensive packs. The difference is that the current draw is a tiny bit more with the expensive packs so you get a little bit better acceleration. What car/truck are you going to get, Speed and how long the batteries last also depends on which brushless motor you get.

Default RE: Run times

Battery life varies, depends on the gearing, surface, driving style, motor, battery, etc. All from my experience:

MF2 w/ neo 1-star, pavement 32mph, 4800x2 LiPo (peak racing) - 35-40 min
MF2 w/ neo 1-star, pavement, 3300x6 NiMH (GP) - 20-25 min
MF2 w/ neo 1-star, off-road, 4800x2 LiPo - 20-25 min
MF2 w/ neo 1-star, off-road, 3300x6 NiMH - 10-15 min
MF2, off-road, castle creations mamba max, 4800x2 LiPo - 5-12 min

TC4 w/ neo 4-star, 49mph, 4800x2 LiPo - 8-12 min
TC4 w/ neo 3-star, 42mph, 4800x2 LiPo - 11-14 min
TC4 w/ castle creations mamba max, 54mph, 3300x3 LiPo - 6-15 min

The sensored motors like the neo or novak tend to have good efficiency regardless of RPM, while the sensorless motors have poor efficiency at low RPM and good efficiency at high RPM.

NIMH or LiPo batteries will last at least 100 uses and many more if they are properly taken care of.
Try to avoid leaving the battery in a fully discharged state for long, don't overcharge, use a peak charger, don't charge at above 1C, etc.

You can charge the Ni-mh and Ni-Cds at a higher C rating but with LiPos you DO NOT want to charge over 1c you could end up with a gernade attached to you charger.

Charge up to 6 safely... racers at the nats charged at 9 because they wanted power and they wanted it now...

note: they were factory drivers and it all came down to one run then the battery hits the can

It all depends on the rating of your pack. If you have a 3000 mah pack a 1c charge rate is 3 amps. 2c charge rate is 6 amps.
A 1500 mah pack 1c charge is 1.5 amps and 2c is 3 amps. The nimh packs are not all that sensitive but just make sure your battery doesn't get hot If it does back off on the charge rate.
