WHY IS MY CHARGER LOSING AMPS
PRODUCTS--CHECKPOINT RACE 3300 BATT.//LRP PULSAR 2 COMP.CHARGER//DYNAMITE 12V DC POWER SUPPLY
MY PROBLEM IS WHEN I AM CHARGING MY BATTS AT 6AMPS, WHEN THE BATTERIES GET TO ABOUT 2700,2800,2900 MY CHARGING AMPS START TO DROP TO ABOUT 4.5-5AMPS WHY IS THIS?????
THANKS

RE: WHY IS MY CHARGER LOSING AMPS
As the voltage rises the charger might limit the current as to not exceed its own specifications, how much power it's able to take in at the 12V input end, or it might be part of the circuit itself. A true constant-current source can only be built in theory, in practice it works up to a certain voltage and once that voltage is exceeded, it starts to taper off or behaves like something else altogether.

RE: WHY IS MY CHARGER LOSING AMPS
It will be a matter of the voltage differential between input and output of charger.
It may be fine on a 6 cell with 12 volts, but will not make the max charge rate on an 8 cell batt regardless of the current of the power supply. The inoput voltage will need raised to do more cells.
