Default 6cell 3000mah voltage while charging?

Just wanted to find out what my triton should read? I have a 3000mah nicd 6cell. So far it is up to 8.6v What is it suppose to say, not sure?

it will carge over 7.2 volts. its trying to cram as many amps in there as possible. just make sure the battery doesn't get hot. warm is ok.

Depending upon the rate, leads, battery it can read anywhere from 8 to 10.5 volts while chargeing. There's really no standard, but average right before charge is complete may be around 9.5 volts.

So every 3000mah 6 cell nicd will be diff? I am use to Lipos where they will charge to a certain voltage than the triton will stop charging. But the nicd will just keep charging until they get warm than you take em off, kinda like a BBQ ey? I always thought the triton charger would bring them to a certain point than stop charging. I kinda wanted to see what would happen if I did a trickle charge at .2 mah, and it has been charging for 2 days, batt is slightly warm. I didn’t want to take it off prematurely.

Similar batts with similar rates and set-ups will be nearly identical for voltage and for the low rate you are using it may not go above your 8.6 reading.

200 ma for 48 hrs has the battery full probably already and will not go any higher. The voltage reading is pretty irrelevant and the Triton will merely follow the voltage of the battery (unlike a lipo where it will terminate based on voltage reading).

The NI settings on Triton are looking for a specific DROP in voltage regardless of the reading and your rate is so low that it may not drop at all.

Here's some things that will push the voltage up.

Higher charge rate, long leads, skinny leads, bad connections, old battery, high IR battery, full battery.

All the opposites will of course lower the voltage.

Im going to assume your packs are ni-mh and you dont know it because my knowledge of ni-cads say they only go up to 2400 mah. Double check they are indeed ni-cads, because ni-mh should not get hot while charging.

And battery leads or joints do not contribute to volts......not sure where you got that from.

While current is flowing the leads/connections will contribute to higher resistance which in turn will cause a higher voltage differential between source and receiver. In the case of chargeing it will cause the voltage rading on the Triton display to read Higher. The battery itself will read higher voltage as the rate goes up in addition to the Triton display going up.

It is very simple to test this out by using some crappy leads/connections that are very long.

The Triton says the volts are 8.64 and that it has put 3900 mah back into the batt. That has to be impossible. The batt is only 3000mah.
and yes it is a NiCad

So how long can I leave it on the triton for it has almost been three days? How am I supposed to know when it is ready, just by a generic warmth test?

What rate are you charging at?
