it's pretty much just a big power cap. that can provide a short burst of high power to the ESC when needed.

Haha it's BS mate don't worry about him.

(Also remember all prices are in Aussie dollars, where $1UAD = $0.7USD)

yeah, but it's still a steep price for a TT-01!

Not really in Australia, that price is at the higher end of a RTR TT-01, but still not that crazy.

Most things cost about 20-30% MORE here than they do in the US, just because they can. People still buy it.

yeah like the one kid (forget his name, but he got in a flame with sleepy) who was saying that his 27T motor made his RTR car do something like 40mph. I dunno, but what an idiot!

When does the capacitor discharge? Does it do it under load or just randomly?

its still an interesting idea tho, this 'electric nitrous' thing...just how much difference can the power stored in that cap make, anyway?i can see it helping abit if your trying to accelerate and your battery's crap...

Not very much, I was doing this today with my MQ and 3 large super-caps (many times that size) give a useful runtime of ~1 minute with no battery, see thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5285397/tm.htm . Even if it is the very best supercap technology it will only give you more than a second or two and with the weight it adds you are better off just getting a better battery.

oh yea! I feel so silly for not having of thought of that. Will a crappy radio shack 60watt soldering iron be sufficent to able to solder wires to the cell? Just to tell you how crappy it is, it takes around 5-10 seconds for it to able to heat a wire hot enough to melt the solder. its not instant.

you might want to try the soldering iron and if it doesn't work than go for a 90 or 100+ watt soldering gun.

I have a butane soldering iron (as well as electric ones) and now you have me thinking of temp. (I don't think you can measure it in watts, right now.[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

Build 4 of them and charge them in series..

but extra cells add voltage while the discharge rate is the same(more top speed), while a cap adds current by getting filled up with charge until its voltage is the same as the battery's , then releasing the charge faster than the battery can(adds acceleration)...

Lunchboxer was just saying how andrew could charge them because his charger only does 4-7 cells......

How do you charge those LB, Im guessing you have some shorted deans to plug into one end while the other end goes to the charger/whatever?

You could also just attach it to the battery and charge it as a 7 cell
