Help me make my 4-tec more competetive!! Carpet racing rocks!!
I just got bak from my first night from carpet racing with my traxxas 4-tec and checkpoint money motor!! It was so fun- I finiseshed 2nd to last, DNF, and 3rd after outlasting several people that crashed themselves out
I have a coupple questions- my car is not as physically fast as the othe cars becaus of its weight and bushings. I had the best driver there driving in practice and he had trouble not geting passed. Will ball bearings make a large difference when they replace the origional bushings? Where can I find the traxxas graphite top deck-i cant find them anywhere!!?[:@] Also my rear shocks leak like faucets-What should I replace them with? And will swaybars make a difference?
So far this is what I want to get if they are worth it
Rear shocks
Sway bars
Graphite top deck
foam bumper
ball bearings
Maybe a body
Please help me make my car more competetive!!
Or should I just get a cyclone s-kit or trinity t-spec? I probably will eventually so forget I said that

Bearings will make a huge difference. A body might make some differance. hold off on the sway bars until you know what kind of adjustment you want. you may not need sway bars. I never have, of course I never raced on carpet either. And I drive a Tc4.

I suggest holding off on the graphite top deck and get yourself a nice set of bearings, then VERY NICE BATTS ($60) and a NICE Charger ($50 to $70). These two alone will make a massive difference.
Then, rebuild the rear shocks (possibly your rear shocks need new O-rings.) if that doesn't fix it, then consider getting a new pair of shocks. (Aluminum shocks do not necessarily mean better.)

I looked at boca bearings but they are a bit pricey at 45 dollars!! Will the 27 dollar version make much of a difference because the are like stock bearing?
I just need a budget bearing kit under or around 30 dollars

Foams are a must, but go to your Track and talk to the #1 and #2s to ask what foams they are running.

Yeah, I have parma foams, just need to make my car faster. I dont know all the size bearings so I will need a kit. Where do all these bearings go? The only ones I can find are on the wheels. Willl I have to take apart the whole car to get to these?
Will sway bars help me on carpet?
What are good budget shocks that will fit nicely? Or will a rebuild kit fix the problem? I think i need meatal shock caps cause thats where they leak.
Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated[8D]

To remove the bushings and put bearings in place , yes you will need to take the car apart to get to the bushings . The bushing bearing sizes should be listed in your manual . Most bearing manufactures have a bearng kit for popular cars . Traxxas has the bearing kits for your car , part numbers; tra4710 and tra2728 . You will need two 2728 bearing kits and one 4710 kit .

The same bearings from Avid will cost you $16 plus like a $5 shipping charge . Avids are great ! We use them in our 1/8 buggies and electric 1/10 cars . You need 12 - 5x11x4 and 4- 5x8x2.5 at $1 a bearing , can`t go wrong with that .
