RC Mart also has the Novaks, just a lot more epensive is all. But why dont you hang on for a week or two. Then I will be able to tell you exactly how the two compare.

If in the end there is no other way, I would be happy to have the stuff shipped for you via me. But I am sure there will be cheaper, less drastic options than that!! But hey, you will have the only novak to have traveled right around the world!!!

lol, that would be nice.

you know what phelansa, I think im gonna get the same motor as you, I checked rcmart just now and they had the XBR 8.5 for 200 bucks! I might get it instead of the mm5700. what gearing do you recommend?

I think i'll get the mm5700 for another car I will get in the future.

I think that Novak will really suit the DF02, But before you buy... Why not wait until I have mine up and running. Then I will be able to tell you which is the better buy, AND what gearing changes (if any) you would need to make. For one thing, the Novak WILL be slower than the MM5700 (MM = 5700Kv, Novak = 5000Kv). But for that matter should have slightly better run time and be just that little bit more controlable!

No use in 2 of us making the same mistake .

Hey guys. DF-03 owner here. Hope that isn't a problem on the DF02 thread.

I did a search on the Novak XBR setup, cause I'm interested in getting it. This thread showed up as a hit. I was wondering since it was been two weeks: Did you guys get your XBR's yet? What do you think?

Yep, I got the XBR and it is up and running in the DF02. First off, the ESC came out of the box with a broken ON/OFF switch. Replaced the switch and fitted the system to the car. Low down power is good, everything else about what you would expect. But for speed and power, the MM5700 still whoops the XBR's butt.

Have a look at GravelHounds thread for more details.

thats cool just checked out your other thread good to see another dark coloured gravelhound/rising storm I love the stealth look and i'm glad i'm not the only one, I almost painted mine black but the darkest colour my lhs had was gunmetal and i wasn't interested in waiting but i'm happy with how it turned out.

oh and i finally got around to properley adjusting the toe it goes faster when the front wheels aren't trying to tear the car apart.

cheers Dan

it most certainly is, I just had it against my neighbours fairly hopped up blazing star and it was better in evry way besides the suspension but thats not hard to fix. i'm playing around with suspension setupsand have found the best way so far is have the front a little softer than the back for flat racing and it gets a bit of sliding happening if i new about these before i got my tt-01d i would have got one sooner

I know you just bought the DF02, but do yourself a favour and splash out on a set of Tamiya Alu Shocks. Get the ones for the DF03.

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=19881

Flourine Coated and adjustable Pre-Load. These are about the best aftermarket shocks I have ever bought. So good in fact that the 3Racing set is lying in my pitbox now.

I recommend you get some 30-40wt shock oil. the stock oil's too soft.

Hi Dan,

Is the color on the body there, this very paint?
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&I=LXFFU3&P=

Gunmetal is a cool color, but the pic on Tower for it makes it look very black. On your car, it looks great!

ok here's a noob question
there's a battery slot on my receiver, do I really have to connect that to a battery?? Even if I don't, there seems to be no problem and the car runs normally. What is that slot for??

The batt slot is for older speed controllers, not electric. Esc's now have BEC (battery eliminating circuitry), so no need for a battery. I believe this is one of my first post, or atleast in a very long time. I have been reading the gravelhound thread for months. I have wanted a df02 for years, actually had one, all done up but I was affraid to drive it so I sold it. But I just bought and built my first one. Put a vxl in it w/mm, atomik truck body, al shocks, several different sets of truck tires. First run i broke my spur gear, after hearing how tough they are, the inside of it broke not the gears. It took me a while to find that. Anyway truck, ha ha, is a blast and tough = looking for another one or two now. Waiting for novak 7.5 for my e revo is getting old. going to sell a savage x w/an 8xl, mm, kershaw designs conversion very tough truck if anyone out there is interested.

OK Guys - I have finally decided to join in the fun. I am a bit older and have just purchased my first RC car - A new DF-02 "PLasma Edge" kit. I am into brushless motors & Li-po's as I have built a couple fast electric (FE) RC Boats. I have done a bit of studying on this chassis and will get a few upgrades.

The aluminum shocks for DF-03
Steering set up-grade
low profile servo
Drive shaft up-grade
MotorMount with heat sink

What is a reasonable motor and ESC for me? And am I missing anything? I am not into racing but like high performance. Thanks,

Steve
