Default servo and radio question...

so the other day i was just wanting to try and run my truck (rustler) off of my air plane radio (futaba T6EXAP) and when i got everything plugged in i realized that the throw my servo had (hitec HS-645MG ) was much greater= tighter turns... i checked the settings and the throw set to that channel on the 6 channel radio was 140%....

I really want my steering to be that tight when i switch back to my normal radio setup ( a crapy hitec 2 channel AM agressor)

and yes on the hitec radio my servo throw is set to full (theres no digital display just a little knob)

Is there something i can do or do i just need to buy a new car radio?

Longer servo horn / servo saver.... if you can't do it electronically, do it mechanically.....

I'm not sure at all that this will work, but if you try to pull the nob off, it might turn more, because the nod might act as a limiter. I wouldn't try this until you get another radio however, because you might break it. For now, i would definitely just run it with your airplane radio. That would definitely look different, and probably pretty sweet. Ya wanna get even more throw?

Probably not legal to use the air frequency on a ground vehicle, though...

Just change the frequency crystal. But the good side is that you won't have anybody on the same frequency, and you car will probably never go out of range.

Default RE: servo and radio question...

I figured it out, and i used your idea LB

1st photo: I knew that a longer servo horn would work but i didn't know how much so i was looking at the whole steering setup and i saw that my [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNY89&P=ML]RPM bearing carriers[/link] only one hole where as the stock ones had 2, one close to the axle carrier and one a little further away. So i busted out ye old dremel and went to work i drilled out one hole close to the carrier, thus giving the tires more swing room from the same movement of the servo.

2nd photo: I went about mounting the control arm of the servo horn higher. again i had to use the dremel and drill a hole a little bigger than the ones that are predrilled on the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXS361&P=ML]kimborough[/link] servo saver/servo horn. after that i turned the truck on and turned the wheel.... i did see a great improvement on the swing on the tires but i noticed that every time i would turn it would rub against the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJK71&P=7]upper chassis[/link]. so out came the dremel again... see photo 3

3rd photo: So you can see where the piece rubbed all i had to do was dremel out a little bit more plastic from that area.

After all that i just reassembled and i actually had to tune down the turning a little bit

Thanks for the help guys.
