Default gear ratio??

i did all the measurments and all that stuff.
i came up with a gear ratio of 10.17.
i have the rustler xl-5 with a vxl in it.
is this a good ratio?
the gearing is 23/86
any suggestions?

no point in asking us. as it is where you run and how it's setup for you. people on these fourms can give you a good place to start, but when it comes down to tuning it for your needs, thats up to you. but, yes, that is a good gearing. it is the stock gearing. if you think it isn't fast enough, and the motor temps are below 175 then gear up. if your happy with it now, and your getting below 175. you should have no reason to change it.

best of luck[8D]

no problem. it was hard for me to get used to all the torque on mine too. just learn how to go easy on the throttle and you will be fine. keep your motor temps cool and your runtime high with low gearing (what you have now).

well, people say 200. i normally don't go close to 200 though just to be safe. normally i'm arround 150 after 2 battery packs. nothing really in the gears. you already have your idler. just go out and have fun now.
