TT-01 Rally
Does anyone rally their TT-01? I've been thinking of rallying mine but I need some advice first, past experiences, setups etc.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yeah, I'll probably be getting a couple touring cars next. Kinda got too many trucks and buggies.
I got 5 buggies and 5 trucks.
Need touring cars.....
Id like to convert one over to a dirt oval or rally.
Dirt oval would be easy, but the rally is just as easy.
Get you some HPI rally tires and a rally body and you'll be fine.

longer shocks and about 10mm of ground clearance should be fine. If you current shocks won't reach that far, then just put some longer shafts in there. I would also sugest fuel line bump stops. Make them just long enough to prevent the chassis from bottoming out.

the tt-01 chassis is like 8 bucks but its just the problem with the slots. theres one under the motor and where the batterys are. they're like shovels and dirt just starts filling up the car..
all you pretty much need to rally are some 60-65mm shocks. the bumper supports need to be modified to allow the arms to hang lower. Then to cover the inners, people cut up tuberware and velcro or tape them to the chassis to keep stuff out.

I believe what he meant by undercowl is a skidplate that stretches from the front bumper to the chassis bottom. Here is a picture of one on an m03 rally. It's the 9th photo from the top.

i havent set mine up for rally, but i put on pinned tire from my 1/16 buggy, and ran it outside on a snow covered (dirt) driveway. it looked sweet as it hopped over rocks and blasting through snow 1-1/2 inch deep.(not the whole driveway, just where the plow missed)
i have the subby rally body, so i do plan on getting longer shocks, and i got some rally block tires to put on this spring.

I would recommend the square racing diff locker for the rear when running rally or drifting, with a stock front diff it allows you to pitch the car and drive it more aggressively IMO(both front and rear locked is a ball when drifting). 3 racing has now come out with a solid axle for the tt 01 and its like $5 cheaper but it uses its own special ring gear, I would prefer to have a solid chunk of aluminum in the stock case with the stock gear like the square racing one. Hobby lobby sells some .010 lexan which you can melt with a heat gun or a very good hairdryer to help seal it up.

RE: TT-01 Rally
I have ran the sqaure locker in tt 01s without any failures, the one in the rear of my df 02 has about 50 hours on it with a mamba brushless system and never had any failures, I would put one in the rear to start as it allows much more traction and is smoother than the stock diff loading and unloading with each turn. It will effect the handling if you add one to the front but it will pull much harder out of the corners as you got four tires pulling all the time so there is a tradeoff from handling to traction.

RE: TT-01 Rally
Just Yesterday I totally makeshifted a tt-01 rally... Instead of the normal positioning of the dampers, I drilled holes where the wishbone suspension arms get mounted to the body. So my damper got way smaller and doesn't work properly but I raised the ride height of my car almost a half inch!
I took it out to test it off-road and it's so tight! rallying is the best. I used to drift it all the time but now all I have to do to convert it to drifting again is reposition the dampers in the original locations, and change the tires.
A little warning though is that this makes your top wishbone in the front and the back a lot weaker. So hypothetically crashing can easily brake them... easier than before. So far it hasn't happend to me.
All that happend to me is that I launched it full speed down a trench about 15 feet far and 7 feet down... my rear diff box came undone for a second because of a missing screw and my dogbone fell out... besides that though it rallys perfectly
So if you want to make your TT-01 rally for practically no money, just do what i did.
Heres some pics of the setup... I'll upload action shots later.
^ see the dampers aren't in the normal mounting holes
