RE: Cool project!
It would be cheaper just to buy a 4WD buggy.
You gota buy shock towers, new shocks, A-arms.......
A body, wing, Buggy tires and wheels....
It's just whatever you feel like doing...
It would be a cool project just to see someone do it.[8D]
Heck, Jconcepts used Nitro TC3 diffs in the BJ4.
I can be done but you better have the cash to do it with..

RE: Cool project!
yeah, well no tc out there handles quite like the tc5 (rcca said so)
So i'm really sure that no 4wd buggy could handle quite like a b-tc5 (even the b44)

RE: Cool project!
if at all possible, it would be best to stick with the stock hubs, so the geometry doesn't get all screwed up.
He is saying it will be expensive because of this:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRJK2&P=ML
That, ecectronics, and all the other stuff you need, and you have a total well over $500.

RE: Cool project!
Id be cool to convert it to a rally car. But as far as a 4WD buggy.....I dunno maybe...
It would sure give a XXX4 a run for its money.
Having the belt drive and all.
Just you wait I'll have a TC5, as soon as I save up enough cash.

1: did they... really!? how about you? just because some guy from rcca said that dosent mean that it is the best. company "buy" the outcome of some of these reviews.
2: the street is much differant than the dirt. if it handles good on the street dosent mean it will do good on the dirt. the weight distribution is differant. TC's have a shorter wheelbase than buggies, there is front kick-up on buggies that is nonn exsistant on TC's. there are so many differances. it would be better to just make a purpose built buggy. trust me i tried to convert my xray to a buggy and it faild on the track, i am sure i i had a cnc macine and some other stuff i could have made it a little better but that is not the case.

RE: Cool project!
I'm kinda feeling a withdrawl from what I said about a TC5 converted into a buggy.
That car is a RACING touring car, there would be no way the parts would hold up to jumping 10 feet in the air and landing.
Now doing a tamiya vechicle like that, would be no problem about breakage, and it would be alot cheaper.
With all the work involoved and the tweeking and stuff, it still would be better just to buy a 4wd buggy> j.m.
It's ok j.m. you dont have to keep score anymore unless you just want to.

RE: Cool project!
I already have a 4wd buggy, I just thought it would be a cool project.
I just though it would look coll as a 4wd buggy. As well as the TF-5 Stallion. Beutiful car by the way, love the red.

RE: Cool project!
hard work to convert a tc5?
The only hard thing i could think of would be to make molds for lexan diff covers, and still all you would have to do is carve some wood.

RE: Cool project!
If you want lexan arms and towers it would take design and machining time and for off road you will need difference hubs, castor blocks, bulkhead braces, camber links, etc. It was originally designed for onroad and would take quite a bit of modifying to making it setup for off road.
