Getting Buggy help needed (Noob)
Hello everyone from Depths of Iraq.
I friend of mine draged me into this, and he is offering me Redcat Tornado EPX.
We have little playground here with some sand and dirt and 2 rumps.
I have never had in hand any of those toys. What i was able to find online disspointed me in this model. I knew for some reason that it was junk - it was way to cheep to be so good.
I will do this only for fun 2-3 times a week i guess. I need somthing that will be solid and wont give me hard time. Ordering stuff to Iraq sometimes takes weeks, and it costs.
I need a Buggy - Stock class - 1/10 scale - Electric - 4wd. And its gotta have the look :P
I can spend 400~500$. Some say its much for a start. But i said, i dont want to order parts coz somthin went down. Orders are pain in the butt.
I have seen some options....but dont really know what would be best for me.
Hopin for your good advices.
Regards,
Adam

The Tamiya's are brilliant first timer cars. Especially if you get a kit and build it yourself. You will learn so much about your vehicle and the hobby.
I would recommend a DB-01 Durga. It is basically an plastic version of Tamiya's top of the line racing buggy.
The Durga sells online for around $150.
Futaba Spread Spectrum Radio System - $180

And a nice and Mild Novak Brushless system for Stock Class (13.5T) - $175

You can pick up a Super Brain charger and 2 really good NiMh batteries for around $100
With a budget of $400-$500 I would much rather buy a decent kit than buy a RTR. But hey, that is my personal preference and based solely on the way I drive/race/bash/play.
Unless of course you really go large and get something like a Team Associated, Losi, Yokomo or something in that class. A top of the line buggy like that could easily set you back $500 and then you would still need ESC/Motor, Radio System, Charger, batteries etc. etc.
You will need to decide on whether you want to go 4wd or if you would be happy with an RWD buggy... Lots and lots of choices.
