RE: Vintage Kyosho Buggy Thread
My first "good" buggy kit I built was a Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE back in the day. I had it for quite a while, but sold it a year or 2 ago to get funds and room for newer RC projects. I like the buggy, but finding parts is nearly impossible. I run my vintage stuff - not excessively hard, but I have fun. So stuff will break now and again....I just didn't want to deal with that, with this buggy.
Anyway, here are some pics from before I sold it:

Pretty cool! Didnt know you had all these vintage cars or Id buy some directly from you so you wouldnt have to
deal with ebay....[:@]
I wouldnt mind having a couple of them, just not go overboard...
I still have some of my raider ARR parts...like the tranny and the complete front end...but that's all...[&o]

I also sold an SG Coyote (shaft driven 4WD) - that was my first kit, back in the what...late 80s/early 90s? Italian made RC, parts also a pain to get (esp back then). Kind of a wacky buggy. Not sure why I got that one LOL.
No more vintage left that I own though, except this Schumacher Bosscat (as seen in my avatar). Not selling that anytime soon though.

How often did you run the Kyosho Optima?

The pics were taken after the "revival".

Pretty sure that car was a belt drive stock wasn't it? At least that's the way I remembered it back then.
IF the parts are so hard to get then yeah I wouldnt have run it at all.

Yep, belt drive. I mostly ran the stock LeMans motor in it, but put a Trinity Chameleon2 Pro 19T x 1 in it for the revival. I just bashed around with it...but carefully, given the parts issue.
The steering on that thing was never quite perfect. Had a tendency to wiggle loose, so it had a lot of play in it. Hard to explain, but the design wasn't the best. And getting to that steering servo was a bit of a pain (esp since I had to fiddle with the servo saver setup a lot). Sill, fun to drive.

I miss my old optima mid. If they made them like that today (alloy & ABS, rather than plastic graphite) I'd have one in an instant.

Only Kyosho Buggy that really stood out for me when I was younger was the Kyosho Burns. That car was a pioneer and 20 years later buggies are not so much different when viewed from a high level.

Post up some pics of that Ultima EP when you get the chance, doesnt matter if its broken or not.
Still dont know what the "EP" stands for...is it like the Ultima ST-Ultima(stadium truck) or other...
I just hope its a buggy.

Picked this up at an auction! Had the box and many nos parts with it. OS FP 10 is the power plant with a Blue Max Radio!. Not sure of vintage but I figure mid 1970's.
