Default Decent Brushed Motor for Pede

My Novak SS5800 finally bit the bullet the other day, so now I'm in the market for a decent brushed motor to get me through while I save up for a Mamba Maxx 5700. It's either the Mamba Maxx or a Team Losi Mini-Baja with a few upgrades (can't decide which just yet). I would like something relatively inexpensive (yeah, it does not go hand-in-hand with decent), so I was wandering around eBay pondering if I should purchase a stock Titan motor from an XL-5 Pede. I was about to purchase a Tower Hobbies Speed Stocker, but I found out those have been long discontinued.

Also, any word yet on the new Castle Creations Sidewinder brushless setup? I could afford one of those sooner, but maybe it's better if I go with the veteran Mamba Max? I thought I saw a thread on it a while ago, but I'm still trying to seek it out...

Thanks

Team orion pro bb 17t or 19t are both great motors. Cooleocool from the traxxas fourms uses them and they work great.

The ball bearing is even better. However it's more expensive[:'(]

team orion stuff gets good reviews, i have a speed gems trinity and i love it, 15t quad, only cost me $35
dont get a titan 12t, they dont last long (on the average) to be worth $20, and not as fast as the speed gems i got. the extra $15 makes a big difference.

The titans really get a bad rap arround here. Mostly everywhere. If you gear is low, and don't try to push the cells it runs strong IMO. Mine lasted 6 months geared 18/86 on 6 cell battery.

try gearing it 16/90. You'll got more top end and a lot more torque.

i will admit that my titan would have lasted longer had i not run it off road with 23t pinion on 6cells. but my trinity is still far faster, and only cost $15 more than a new titan.

For the amount more it costs, it's much better to get the bushing version and put bearings from an old motor it it. I do it all the time.

It isn't so overgeared that gearing down would add any speed. Don't you think Traxxas would have noticed if it was that overgeared?

I think, after reading all your comments, I'll go for the SV2 Pro 19 turn. Thanks, guys.
