Default Rustler ESC Problem

It's button is stuck! Once I push it down, I have to hecka move around it to get it to pop up again. I don't want to ruin it, so any recommendations on slicking it back up?

Thanks. The button is fine now.

Now a new problem arises. Whenever I turn off my Transmitter while the R/C is ready, it'll hold full throttle reverse and left. Do I have to recalibrate it or anything?

Nevermind, I forgot, when will I ever have the transmitter off and the ESC on?

This particular problem is not in the manual, but for future refrence, it's a great place to look!

Send it back? You mean it's... broken?

Oh crap.

But this thing is only two weeks old.

It's only broken if it's not working the way it's supposed to. It sounds like it's running fine now, so if it is, it's not broken.

Well, it is running fine when the transmitter is on. And it only does that every couple of times...

At least this'll train me to turn off the ESC before the transmitter. And I'm gonna get a waterproof ESC soon anyway.

Thanks!

No problem. Instead of wasting your money on a hole new esc, why not waterproof your VXL?

That's what I want to do.

I know they already have a waterproof servo (I can already hear my non-sealed servo a bit off from hitting a few puddles), but do they have a waterproof version of my ESC? And do I gotta get a sealer for the battery's connection?

There is no waterproof xl-5 or VXL esc. You will have to find a waterproofing meathod. Such as a waterproof box, or something.

Wow, that's nice. I might do that. And yes, mine is VXL.

But what if my ESC is already damaged? I never really drove it in the rain or anything, made sure it stayed nice and dry. I just don't want that whole reversal thing coming on if my transmitter somehow cuts off.

But if it's doing ok (I'll check next day when it's completely given a chance to dry out), I can try out your method of waterproofing.

J.M.= Thats not the "safe" way to waterproof any ESC. The small tupperware idea is the best so heat is atleast able to vent out very small pinholes in the tupperware bottle. If your going to be negative all of the time keep it to yourself.

Stealth Pilot= If the button is stuck then either try and see if you can do anything more to get it loose or give traxxas a call at 1-800-traxxas and they'll solve all your questions about it for you. And if they cant just send it in and they'll repair it free of charge. I just sent my vxl in 2 weeks back to get programmed and traxxas said if they ant fix the problem that they'd send me a new one for free. Talk about customer service!

If your ESC is already damaged, there is nothing you can do about now. If you can still run it, then leave it alone. If it's not running how it was before and you really want it fixed just send it into taxxas. Your transmitter's light blinks when the battery is low. You just have to watch out for that, and rember to always turn the esc off, and then the remote.
Don't hold me to that water proofing meathod, it's not mine. It's a guys from the traxxas fourms that looked good.

Takedown-how long does it normally take them to do the warrenty?

I agree.

I was driving my Rustler, and it went right into a rock wall. I didn't even have to replace anything.

But yeah, just crossing my fingers that the ESC's just gotta stay dry for a bit. Thanks for the support!

Sorry for the double-post, but it a friend just enlightened me on the problem...

...the R/C's receiver?

I found some moisture inside of it, and am leaving it out drying.
