Upgrades*Tips and Tricks* for the Tamiya 501x*Worlds Edition*
The first upgrade I already have: Black RPM Ball-cups
The Second Upgrade I already have 87 tooth B4 Spur gear(the stock spur is too big for small tracks)
The Third upgrade: RC (Titanium) Screws Kit
The Fourth Upgrade: B44 Battery Tray with the Aluminum Thumb Screws
The Fifth and Final Upgrade: Accer Ceramic Bearings
Tower is getting ready to sell out of the original 501x I bet that as soon as it sells out they'll get in the "501x Worlds Edition"<<<That's what I'm hoping
I wanna get these upgrades before I even start building it in october.[8D]
Any Tips or tricks you might have for this Pro Level Tamiya Buggy post up!
Pics taken from RCtech.net of 501x Tamiya Buggies it's an awesome buggy.[8D]
The fifth picture is the original prototype and that last pic is the Worlds Edition.

Ive always wanted a 501x buggy. They look so much better than the b44 IMO. If I do get one eventually It will definately be for racing only.

Yep still october but at least this thread is up for other TRF 501x owners.
Tex needs to post his pics.
Here's my racing buddys 501x, he got it off the bay with a bunch of spares for under 400 dollars.
Threw in another pic of the Japan Version before it even hit hobby stores in Japan

RE: Upgrades*Tips and Tricks* for the Tamiya 501x*Worlds Edition*
Made another tower order.
Associated Battery Post B44 2 9.58
Associated Silicone Shock Oil 35 Weight 2 oz 1 3.39
Associated Battery Tray B44 1 2.89
Associated Battery Strap B44 1 3.79
Associated Factory Team Battery Strap Thumbscrews (2) 2 13.38
Yep 501x stuff.[8D]
I'll have a 501x soon because trying to make a little money.
Still have those ceramic bearings backordered. I'll wait for them to come in thru tower, shouldnt be that long.
Tower is pretty quick on stuff getting to my house.
The 501x Worlds edition kit will be ordered at Golfland. Robert has already cut me a deal on one *brand new*. 509.00 even no tax.[8D]
I'm going for the big boy 4WD buggy. I'm not playing games anymore Stallard....lol Wait til october, I might get to race Jeff's 501x above also[8D].

B44 Battery tray coming up in the 501x.
Hopefully it will be a direct fit so I dont have to file the battery slots in that precious looking carbon fiber.
Also I'm using B44 plastic holders instead of the carbon fiber ones. Just in case I wanna run lipo in it, I'll save the carbon fiber holders.

After I get it working i''ll reply here again.
Until then enjoy these pics.[8D]
My reciept at golfland. Car is still backordered...but it's gonna be worth the wait. Trust me.
Extra parts, 501x A-arms, B44 complete battery tray and the tires, losi pink taper pins on Jconcepts spoked rims and
extra bumpers and wing parts too.[8D]

I wouldn't touch a thing on a 501x if I had one. The pros are racing practically stock ones, who not leave it? If I had the money I would probably upgrade eventually though.

RE: Upgrades*Tips and Tricks* for the Tamiya 501x*Worlds Edition*
The only upgrade besides a B44 battery tray.
Just got them and they are super nice too.
People have said you get a smoother running car and slightly more runtime due to virtually no friction at all.
Stock bearing have 33% friction, these have 0%.
And another thing, my belts will remain free all the time...no binding of the belts so they will last longer also.
I dont wanna run Lipo in the 501x at the moment so this is my solution.
I'm going to the A-main with this car.
Tired of people calling me the B-main bandit...now I'll be the A-main bandit...lol

Last Sunday at Albion was the best racing I have ever experinced.
I got beat, but I didnt mind getting beat by people who were already sponsored.
Impressive driving was on display.[8D]

I'd get a new hot bodies cyclone D4 instead. watched a race on youtube 4wd buggy class ROAR finals the Cyclone came first by a long shot plus the suspension is unmatched and I always like new platforms, I never buy old cars.

RE: Upgrades*Tips and Tricks* for the Tamiya 501x*Worlds Edition*
A freind has one, so I may get a chance to drive his.
Plus its way too simialr to the B44 which is newer than the D4. Both I cannot tell apart,
just minor differences, but without the nifty batttery tray the B44 has.
Trying to get a different car my racing buddies dont have.
I may get to drive the new Serpent buggy also.
That's another sweet ride.
I'm a big tamiya fan though.

Another thing they are doing is running a double mounted front shock tower, so basically a 6mm tower instead of the stock 3mm tower.
If I break a 3mm tower then I'll double it up later, after I break one.

Everything needs an upgrade. And most factory drivers don't race 100% stock cars.

The last thing to do is the stock diff balls wear out really fast with brushless power.
So you pretty much have to use ceramic/tungsen diff balls also.[:-]
12.99 each, or 25.99 for the entire car.[8D]
