Well, if you have your car geared too low, that will cause the ESC to get real hot, and if your overgeared your motor will real hot. Just curious but what vehicle is your Mamba Max 6900 in? Gearing? Generally in a XXX-T, with a 6 cell Ni-MH pack, 16/86 gearing works really well, not heat issues. But my ESC was getting a bit warm when I had my XXX-T geared 14/86, so I cut a hole in the windshield of the body to allow some air to flow over the ESC, and then I went to 16/86 gearing, and havent had a problem since. Also, if you are running 6 cell Ni-MH, put your settings lower to reduce the risk of too much battery heat.

Im in a rustler with 17/83 gearing and the motor has stayed pretty cool. I've been running it on road mostly at night so that may be a factor. Usually barely breaking 100 in 40 degree weather.

I have had heat 'issues' with a 5700 running off 6-cell NIMH. It's a high-power (or mid-power from the ref. point of some) system and you should always consider where the heat is going to go or how you are going to deal with it. Every single mamba max setup I have has some sort of nonstandard heatsink, fan, etc.

My 6900 has gotten kinda hot in my pede, but it is not uncontrolable. I think the hottest it has been was 170, but that was with high gearing. I normally run it with a 12 tooth pinion, just because the motor is so fast I don't need a higher tooth pinion. And I always run with a fan on the esc, just to be safe.

Hope this helps.
