I just ordered the new Flux from Tower (they came in stock today). I've got a bit of nitro experience (including a Nitro Firestorm, which will be great for spare parts!), but thought I'd grab an brushless truck for winter due to waterproofing. It should arrive next week, can't wait.

I probably won't be able to drive it for a little while due to other financial commitments stopping me from purchasing batteries but we'll see how I go.

Doesn't this version come with a battery also...? It's the 2,4ghz version, right? That also includes a battery, 8,4v 3300mah nimh pack. So u'll be ready to run in no time

Oh I forgot about that, at least I'll be able to run it. Just have to wait a while before I can get some lipo speed.

The 4600 castle seems perfect. You can access a reasonable range of gearing with it and its super fast.

Had a good run tonight, running asphalt and gravel shoulders. 19/87 gearing on 3s with torque control set at 2.0 and no punch control, However it seems the lower you set the torque control the hotter the motor runs.... Temp after 20 minutes was 175f. Just lifts the front tires off the ground for a foot or two and was topping out around 55 or better.

Red - what motor / esc are you running again?

Been out of the thread / site for a while. Gotta get a new radio for mine, I am thinking of finally making the switch to lipo but maybe not just yet as the wife wants a new bathroom first.

I had a similar experience when I slowed my truck down. I think its the extra traction you get that gives the heat. I put the power to 6 and punch at 50% and the truck slowed down a lot - to 41mph! I lost all high end power and it doesn't wheelie. I will switch to regular sized tires and they play with higher torque control values and more punch control. I am finding punch is more of a problem than the overall power.

Welcome back Enzyme.

Anyone know if the 2.4 rx/tx that comes with most of the new hpi vehicles is good for multiple models. or is it a rebind per car type of rx/tx?

Castle has a new firmware that is (finally) not a beta version. Released May 18.
I've switched to dirt works, kept the 88/17 gears and run 8 torque control and 60% punch control. It seems to have a lot of power and wheelie a lot without spinning too much. I will try to get the speed today. Temperatures havn't gone higher than 122F and are usually about 100-110F in 70+F outside temperatures to smashing the cooling fan the other day doesn't seem like much of a loss.
Red - we seem to be going in opposite directions with our settings.

I am recharging now and will try torque 8 and punch 60% at the hottest time of the day and see how hot I can try to get it. Maybe my wife can help me with determining the speed.  What pinion are you running and are you running a fan?  I am not surprised with my temperatures with 88/17 gearing (thinking of adding a tooth depending on how fast it is.

Just came back with the punch at 60 and torque at 8.  It felt great.  Temps were in the 110-120F range (130F after resting a minute).  I am getting tired of adjusting the ball differential. It wasn't easy to get a good speed run but I did see 46 mph come up and if felt like there was a little more.  The calculator says 48-49mph. without tire expansion.

I am a little worried about those radios. think i would prefer a more well known brand. I have no problem getting something cheap as long as the reputation is good. However I really like tried and true products.

Blitz ESE shocks are nice and proline has a great set for the blitz that work on the storm. From what I hear the flysky radios are very good. I bought the 2-channel for a truck I am selling and will let you know how it is when it arrives. I recommend dirt works too.
I went for a great bash with the D8 tonight. Melted a body! It is the best handling RC I've ever driven. I've been thinking of e-verting it when I burn through the current engine. We are exploring the area to find new driving areas and found an area that serves as a pretty good (very fast) oval race track

Ok...putting my "new" E-Firestorm up for sale...lol Lost interest...my big car has moved ahead on the hobby list.

New waterproof e-firestorm with normal wear and tear from bashing around the yard...rolls, cartwheels, etc. Plus Ill throw in a brand new Turnigy 4000mAh 3S 30C Lipo Pack and brand new ECO6-10 200W charger (both are still NIB).

$250

Email me at mitchaskelson @ yahoo.com if interested.
