Plasma Edge is a DF02. Tough as nails!! There are only 2 problem I have ever found with the DF02. It cannot take a slipper, and the front shock tower is a bit weak.

To make up for that they have metal internals in the diffs that just go on and on and on. I have run a MM5700 on 2S Lipo, a 4600 on 3S and currently I run a Novak XBR/EX on 2S in my DF02. I have sold 7 of my RC cars recently, and have prospective buyers for the rest. But as you can see from my sig... The DF02 is one of the cars I will never get rid of. That should tell you something about the car...

Pop on a decent alloy Front shock tower and perhaps a set of alloy shocks.

I am not at all sure about what you are trying to say?

If you mean does the Alloy shock tower come as standard? Then nope... you need to buy an aftermarket part. The same goes for the alloy shocks. Try www.rcmart.com. They have everything you could ever need for a Tamiya.

I run the GPM Alloy Shock Tower, and a set of Yeah Racing dampers. I would hesitate to reccomend Yeah Racings parts though, I guess I just got lucky with these dampers

Just take care not to land under power. And be carefull of running on very high grip surfaces. Thats about it

I agree, IMO the df 02 is the best $100 you can spend in rc for a durable backyard basher, I have alot in my 2 rising storm df 02 cars and extra parts and chassis and bodies and and and but for me its not a matter of money its knowing that I will always have it available to play with as my spair car

well I like to run mine df 02 on at least the buggy hawg tires from proline for a little more ground clearance but actually most of the time I run it on the four inch tall truck tires, I have dirt works and dirt hawgs, both offer a combination of traction and wear over a variety of surfaces.

for stock rims you can use

front

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDU14&P=7

rear

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDU13&P=7

you can gain a little more cleance by running the four inch tall truck tires, it helps to make it a better basher as they are also half an inch wider, this of course requires different rims, I use

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM875&P=7

with

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXUM92&P=ML

if you plan on running more in grass and mud with little pavement you may want

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDT92&P=7

or

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDT93&P=7

If you want more racing type tires I would say just go to your LHS, tell them you want front and rear tires for a xx or xxx-4 losi, they fit right on the rims.
You will want to stick to a lower kv brushless system as you can only gear it so low(70/16 11.30 final drive ratio) I run 70/19 on the buggy hawg tires and 70/16 on the dirt hawg truck tires with the 4600 and 5700 but the 5700 mamba has to be watched as it will get hot on those smoldering midwest days we can only dream of at this point, its been a long winter in iowa, I know you are 200 + miles north, can't imagine it was any better there lol. The normal thread here on this board is called Gravel Hound I think, check it out, rczone also has a good 120 page thread but its been mainly abandoned lately but tons of good pictures and homemade mods and such in the electric off road area. I suspect a guy could get away with even the big five inch tall tires like masher 2000s and moabs if he went with a vxl system but I never got a chance to try it on a warm day and some sucker offered me $40 more than I bought my vxl for so its now gone as I wasn't that impressed with the controller itself, hope that helps, sorry for the hella long post

I forgot to mention, you will want at least the aluminum center shaft for brushless, cvds are also recommended but as long as you don't loose the dogbone all together you can put them back when the brushless power tosses them out on occasion.

I forgot about the Alu Main Shaft [:@].

Any one of those wheels J.D.T. recommended would work like a charm.

I also think the 6900 is way to much motor for the DF02. You will be much happier with a mild motor. Trust me in this. Been there, done that.....

I run a Novak XBR/EX 8.5 now. It is still faster than any of the 1/10th nitro buggies out here (2S 4000mah). Add to that the awesome runtimes lower KV motors will give you, and the fact that you do not have to gear down as much as for the higher KV motors..... Especially if you are looking to run the bigger wheels!

I would recommend you seriously look at the MM4600 or even one of the XBR/EX Combos. Even a Veleneon would be better than a MM6900 in my personal opinion. And it takes a lot for me to say anything good about Traxxas

Don't bother. The best place is RCMart.com or rcstation.com or some of the other ones i'm sure other people will mention

rcmart and ebay is the only place I know of to get aluminum parts, gpmusa is such a ripoff price wise and you have to call them for df 02 stuff as they forgot to put it on the sight???what kind of rinky dink operation is going on there lol?

That would be one of 3 Systems that I would recommend for the DF03.

Sidewinder 4600
Mamba Max 4600
Novak XBR/EX 8.5

Like I said before... even the Velineon System would work well in the DF02.
