Sensored & sensorless
I picked up a new motor (used, new to me) and it is sensored. I have a sidewinder sensorless esc. From what I've read this combo should be fine. But I was of the understanding that sensored cares which wire is hooked to what - or is that just with a sensored esc? The motor is an associated 13.5, I know its not a fast one, but I got it so cheap . . .

RE: Sensored & sensorless
Sensored cares "what is hooked up to what" only with a sensored ESC. You can hook up the poles in any order and just forget about the sensor plug. If the motor goes backwards, flip two of the poles and this will reverse the direction.

RE: Sensored & sensorless
Hobbywing is the same as SpeedPassion. However, SpeedPassion is supposed to have made a bunch of software changes to the Hobbywing ESC.
You can run a sensored motor with a sensorless ESC, but not the other way around (unless the esc supports both - SpeedPassion/Hobbywing). I tried running a Mamba with a Novak 10.5. It worked, but it wasn't that great. Cogged at startup and cogged coasting in corners sometimes. This was with the latest firmware on the Mamba. Castle tech I was working with said it was a guess in the dark if it works great or not. Even the same motor within the same manu sometimes works great, sometimes cogs.
So, the best you can do is hook it up and see if it works to your satisfaction.

RE: Sensored & sensorless
Oh yea, and I really like my SpeedPassion GT esc. Best one I have owned so far ( Novak GTB and a Mamba).
Also, the SpeedPassion is the same as the Hobbywing Xerun esc. The ezRun line is not a sensored system. Good luck finding a Xerun system. I can't seem to find them anywhere. If you do find a place to get them at, let me know.

I've searched both the current ebay listed and completed ebay listings for Xerun with no hits. The ezRun are on there, but I couldn't find the Xerun.

RE: Sensored & sensorless
Great. I think I'd rather buy from a seller who correctly lists their stuff. Sure seems like an easy way to do a little scamming.
Heck, I can get a SP GT cheaper at the LHS than what most of those are listed on ebay.

RE: Sensored & sensorless
The Novak GTB is sensor-plug compatible with all the sensored, ROAR approved 540 size motors.

RE: Sensored & sensorless
mind the noob question but seriously i dont have a clue regarding sensored system
this gtb is my first sensored system and i see that it has a sensored harness so i was wandering if the harness would only fit novak motors
or its harness would fit other makes of motor
