Default REALLY HOT Batts. in my E-Maxx

After a run recently one of the battery packs in my E-Maxx was really hot. So much so that it melted the shrink wrap. The other batt was normally warm. I've noticed this a couple of times before too. The pack won't take a charge now either. Was it a bad pack to start with or did the truck fry it? I'm assuming the truck draws power equally out of both packs.
I should mention that these were the cheap 1500mAh Shark packs.
