Traxxas Summit Question
I am thinking of getting the new Traxxas Summit when it comes out. It says in the details that it is brushless ready and it comes with a Titan 775 motor. Which brushless setup would be best for that application? I plan on just bashing around the neighborhood and on a few trails. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
Maybe try the Traxxas forums or somewhere where a traxxas representative is likely to hang out (?). They should know better than a retailer.

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
Check Traxxas' website and see if tehy say it is brushless ready. If it is they would probably want you to know. As far as a good setup. A Velineon on 3S would probably work great, but if you want to do any really good crawling get a higher turn sensored motor.

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
Umm, no, like the revo ( which the summit is based off) can't handle one vxl, not enouph power, MMM combo would be good.
Looks like his is doing alright on a single Velineon.

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
At one time I was running an E-maxx on a Castle Creations Mamba Max + 5700 motor kit + 12-cell NIMH.
But it was only marginally faster than the stock speed, needed a special forced-air cooling system, and had relatively-short runtimes.
This, or the VXL; they can 'work' if that's what you want but it's just not that optimal. They have to be geared very low, since they really aren't designed to push something this heavy.
MMM might tear up the transmission, depending on how strong those unlocked-locked diffs are. I don't believe it says anywhere on the Traxxas website that it's brushless-ready.

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
do not ever doubt the power of a single velienon!!
ive got one in my revo conversion while i wait for a mamba max and medusa motor.
it's shocking the amount of power it can put out, it isnt even getting hot!!![X(][X(]
they are a pretty good motor

RE: Traxxas Summit Question
The Summit is basically the same drivetrain as the e-revo except with a really low first gear. I would want to switch the lockers on when you are going full force but other than that it should handle brushless just fine.

Hopefully they follow a similar thing here, either the push rod itself or the mechanism is built such that it has some kind of 'soft engage', where it doesn't just lock hard as soon as that switch is pressed if that would cause damage.
