I would not try lowering your cut off point you could damage your battery. When the outside temps warm up you will get longer run time, for the time being just lower your gearing and have fun.

I have another pinon and its a 28t.. How would a 28 pinon/76 spur do? or should I switch back to my stock 25/83. Or just do the 28/83

Try 25/76 and see how that does. With this gearing you should be in the mid 50's on 3s lipo. You will also have better acceleration.

The ESC is doing what it should do. Cutting off when the battery drops below a certain voltage. There isn't anything wrong with it, you are running too long gearing and it is forcing the battery voltage under load to drop under the LVC. Lipos have a buzz period after charging like a nimh pack (though it is less pronounced) and once that has worn off and the pack voltage drops a bit you are likely to experience the LVC cutting in if you are running such extreme gearing, this is why it only happens after a while. I'm a bit surprised it is happening with a trakpower 5400 pack, they are pretty top market lipos, hence the reason I suggested it was shot.

If your esc was broke it would stay broke. Electronics don't tend to break and then fix themselves.

OK guys, charged a 11.1V 1800 mAh and put it in my PEDE, just to see the tires baloon up at 11.1V WOW, !!!!!!!!!
so I had to put it on the ground and try a wheelie or two, about 30 seconds and nothing over 1/2 throttle, then pulled the trigger about 2/3 and it stopped.
I am running VXL in a PEDE with Moabs, and 17/86 gears, about how many amps can I expect this thing to be pulling on 17-20 tooth pinions. I don't need over 40 MPH, just was hoping to be able to use some of my airplane batts.
Thanks all, this thing made my PedeRacer a whole new truck.

Even if they are 30c packs, they are only capable of supplying 50 or so amps. The VXL will spike double that easily. You really need to get some bigger/heavy duty lipos. A 3 cell 5000 25c isn't that much, around $50 from HobbyCity. As it is you risk permanently damaging the lipos you have.

Buy the right ones and they are fine. Mine cost $59 and are Zippy-H 5000 20c-30c 3s jobbies. They run clean to the cut off and supply enough juice to blow the rear tires off pretty easy on a Slash geared 29/76, which is hella high for the slash. They are doing flightmax 25c ones now for $49 in 3s 5000mah.

OK, my LHS has been getting in the Zippy lipos lately, I just got 2 of the 2200 20-30C packs for my airplane, in 3s2p they will do the trick, I tried the 1800 as it is a crappy battery and I didn't care if it puffed up , just wanted to see this thing go a little. We tried the night I got it on a 3200 20C and it went straight to LVC when I grabbed some trigger. So what I'm getting out of all this is that I basically want 4000+ mAh with 20C+ constant, that should do?
I need advice on a 2 cell lipo in a hard case, as that's the only lipo I can use at the track. It will be running a 27T brushed motor on the VXL-3s and I would like to run it on the Velineon 3500 motor as well, how big will a 2cell need to be to handle the current draw required, and can anybody suggest some decent ones that will fit? I have heard bad things about the Zippy hard case lipos, but their airplane batts are good stuff, this 2200 20-30C pack puts out some juice!!!!!!!
thanks all for your help
