Orion vs SPC lipo
alright, bought both of these thinking the SPC lipo will be the underdog just because the price. So i tried the SPC lipo first, pretty quick, never experienced this type of power. Then I tried the Orion as I babied it into my rc. turns out its a lot slower than expected. It doesn't have the punch or top speed like the SPC lipo. I really had high hopes and now I am dissapointed for spending so much for Orion. I thought Kokam was decent? I learned my lesson, brand names are not always the best. Even though it has happened to me in different scenarios, I just dont listen. :\ [:@]

Are they both the same mah? And C rating?

The Kokam cells are not known for maximum power, but for reliability, safety, and longevity. They are one of the higher quality cells on the market and are used in many portable electronic devices.

RE: Orion vs SPC lipo
He is talking about the SPC lipos. Which are about twice as less C rating as the orion lipos are. I use the SPC 15c 5000 in my vxl trucks and it does fine, so does my brother and friend. However I am going to get the zippy 5000 30C packs soon. No point in spending the same amount of money on a 2s when I could get an equal higher mah, voltage, and C rating compared to the orions.

I have the Orion Platinum 5000mah 20c which is 100a and I have the SPC lipo 8000mah 12c with 98a. I'm thinking the Platinum was over hyped or something.
I also heard zippy's batteries are good, but they are just as good as high powered nimh packs and the solder job sucks.

For an everyday basher there is no reason to get an expensive pack. You do not need anything huge, maybe high in the mah but the SPC 3s pack works fine for me.

LOL you cannot even talk man. I have had my SPC pack dropped and I bent all 3 of the cells slightly. I bent it back ha it is good. Then just the other day the hold broke on my slash and the pack went flying out skidding on concrete. Packs still runs like the day i got it though.

RE: Orion vs SPC lipo
Yeah I have that SPC 3s 5000 mah lipo pack. It's too big to fit in my Ruslter VXL so i just duct tape it in. I hit a tiny little bump in the street going full speed and the ruslter wheelied up and started cart wheeling down the street. The lipo flew out and started tumbling down the street easily over 50 ft. That has happened to me twice, the battery is scratched up but it still works fine. Now I use a lot of duct tape to hold it in!
