no its platform is NOT old it has all the metal gears and rubbersealed ball bearings....SC10 would be great..BUT he would spend more money on a BL SC10 than a BL traxxas slash

I'd look at the SC10 as well. The Slash is fine but really it's a bit overrated and overhyped, it's still just Traxxas old 2wd electric platform.

What lipo do people run in a stock Slash? Does it need a regulator? I've go one on order and should have it by the end of the week. The local club only allows racing stock Slashes with only a change in battery and gearing.
