Default Futaba 2.4Ghz 3PM Fasst

I'm going to buy the Futaba 2.4Ghz 3PM Fasst system after reading some
Spektrum vs Futaba threads on the internet. Apparently, most people seem to prefer Futaba radios over Spektrum.

I'm going to pick it up today after work. $250(CAD) from my local hobby shop.

It will be my first 2.4Ghz system. Hope it will work fine. I hate interference.

Hey good luck Sam.

I had Spektrum DX6 and DX7s before, they were brilliant.

I never had interference problems with the FM transmitters I had before, but it was nice not having to worry about getting shot down or shooting someone else down.

Please post your thoughts on it in this thread after you've programmed & used it a bit. Maybe a couple of close-up pictures too, the ones I've found aren't high enough resolution to really see the details.

Ive tried the 3PM before. IMO the deisgn of the transmistter is not comformatable in a lot of peoples hands. $255!!!!!!? You could of got a DX3S!!! MUCH better feel and easier to navigate. The 3PM needs time to get used to navigating because it is a lot harder than most radios.

I agree the screen is crap with the 3 letter abbreviations.. Once you get used to it, it will be great.. The built in fail-safe is good, has ABS, and range is amazing..

I picked mine up for 200 when our dollar was good

I like my FASST 3PM. The cryptic 3 character abbreviations on screen are a "feature", you just have to see it that way. I don't think it's any harder to program than my Spektrum or Hitec radios, it's just different. It has a rock-solid RF link, and that's the most important feature to me.

Well, you guys have to admit that using 3 characters for model names is kind of a nit-pick.

It could just be a single character, forcing us to create stick-on cheat sheets with the model names. Heck, you could do this anyway if you really need more than 3 characters.

As BuzzBomber said, more characters is a luxury, like electric windows on a car. Nice, but not at all necessary.

To put it another way, Futaba would have had to raise the price of the Tx to account for the extra cost and programming of a dot matrix display. If they did that, you may have been more tempted to go with a competitor's model, and they don't want that!

I understand what you guys are getting at. but in this day and age, its not that much more expensive for a dot matrix display and would definately attract a larger crowd and even gain more customers from the spektrum side. Its a matter of programming full names instead of the 3 letter abbreviation. Its not that hard.

I mean, how long have these 3 letter screens been around for? Ever since AM was current technology.. Then came FM which still used these screens.. And now 2.4 Fasst? Still using them.. Its kinda like a car company that builds a fast car.. but looks ugly as hell..

And especially for a $250 remote, people would expect a little more. Im not complaining about he quality of the 3PM Fasst. Im just saying it would be nicer to have a better display.

not to harp on anyone here but didnt futaba already make an easier to read screen on the 3pm? I believe they call it the 3pk! granted i know it has more features and is more of a racers tx but what you guys seem to be wanting is the 3pk screen witht the 3pm features. seems to me that would be over kill. I know most of the time on my transmitter i set it up the first time and then hardly ever mess with it. unless i install new electronics. but most of the time all the freatures that the 3pm has arent even used and if a racer want a good remote ten theyll prolly go with the 3pk. in my opinion its a great radio just like it is.
