Waterproof VXL confirmed
Just got my Rustler VXL in the mail and it turns out they are waterproofed. At least the receiver and servo are. The servo is the blue type and says waterproof on it. The ESC did not say waterproof on it though.

RE: Waterproof VXL confirmed
I put my new rustler in some water where all of the electronics were submerged and it came back fine. The wheels are waterlogged and I got sand in the pinion gear, but besides that it went a-okay!

I think all of the Traxxas models now have the sealed radio box and the waterproof servo....nothing new here...
the ESC looks same.

RE: Waterproof VXL confirmed
i wouldnt count on the ESC being waterproof, the standard brushed ones have a specific waterproof decal and traxxas made a big deal about them being waterproof unlike the VXL, so i definitely wouldnt try it
the new 1/16 cars are but i dont think the 1/10 system is

I must be mistaken. I thought the VXL's did not have the sealed receiver and servo. Only the XL-5's. I know the VXL's were on backorder at several shops for an updated verson to come out.

RE: Waterproof VXL confirmed
that VXL esc is lighter blue than the older one i have. mine has never seen any water and it finally took a dump last week. it gradually cogged more and more and made the motor get hotter and hotter until eventually, the motor would getto 190F in 3 mins. i took the $30 supersimple esc from my BL savage and tossed in a 5cell hump pack and ran speed runs for 15 mins before my vxl motor got to 180F. that is the 3rd time my vxl esc took a dump and i am not going to pay $45 to get it fixed. i see a EZrun 60a in my rustler's future. i already got the 3300kv ezrun motor as a spare.

And the version you have is probably not upgraded to the waterproof VXL system because i dont think they have even been released yet and Traxxas did not update there site about it yet.

RE: Waterproof VXL confirmed
I would think that it can handle some light splashes without trouble. There is a big rubber bushing around the wires on yours. The ESC has wires coming out of it now instead of the bullet connectors on the board (probably due to them breaking). I think the VXL3s has always been water resistant, but they don't want people going out and dunking it to find out.
