It may be the batteries but it depends on what car it is and what motor and gearing you are running. We need more info to be of some help to you.

If there sanything I have learned, it is that you should NEVER let your motor get even CLOSE to that hot. You will wreck your electronics quick.

IF your motor is getting really hot then you need to get smaller pinion gears. Try some that are 4 to 5 teeth smaller and get a few different sizes cause the different motors and different track conditions need different gearing. If your motor was smoking then you may need to have it rebuilt. You should always check your motor after a run to see if it is too hot. This will help you with figuring the gears you need to run. Good luck and let us know how things are going.

it could be that you are drawing the power to quickly with ur esc and motor combination. 1500's never run long enough if you are doing alot of bashing. they are made for a slower more beginner car. Id move up to 2400s or a radioshack 3000. 36 bux and they are just awesome bashers, lasts my in my tc3 for about 12 minutes(unless false peaked)

Make sure you get som smaller pinions. That will make your run times longer and allow your motor to run cooler cause it wont have to work so hard. Once you get your gearing set then you are ready for bigger batteries. A bigger with the wrong gearing will definetly fry your motor. Have fun and always check the motor temp when done running. That is a real good test to find out if something is wrong.
