Default New Motor ISSUE, Please Help.

Hello everyone. I have just received a couple brand new brushless motors and notice that one of the motors has some wire exposed (the middle wire which is yellow) from apparently being stored in its case. Each motor is stored in its own foam case and then placed within a clear plastic casing from the manufacturer. After opening the outer cardboard packing box, I pulled out the bag containg my two motors in their seperate manufacturers case. As I was looking at them, I saw through the clear plastic case where the wires were positioned in each pack where a section of the wires were wedge firmly against the top of the plastic case. One motor's wires were fine, but the other appears to have worn the insulation which caused the wire to be exposed. I can see about 1/16th of an inch of exposed wire. Being that I know really NOTHING about brushless motors, should I return the motor for a replacement, or should I just electrical tape it? Again, I dont know much about motors especially brushless, but is this one of those things where if I tape it up, that it will just cause me problems later on that I will regret having not just gotten a replacement? Thank you.

Uhh, how is it a joke? All you did was wear away insulation. Shrink wrap it and use the motor.

I just never heard of shrink wrapping a wire before so therefore I wanted to confirm whether or not it was posted in a joking nature. Thanks.

PLUS, the only shrink wrap I have ever seen before are the HUGE rolls of it for wrapping pallets of boxes. I guess there is small rolls of shrink wrap sold somewhere. Now can you see why I thought it was a joke? Thanks.

Easy
You advised him to use shrink wrap on his electric motor wires. Poor advice and if you read his reply he was clearly confused as to why you advised him to do so.

Shrink wrap is NOTheat shrink. Two totally diffrent items .

They both shrink when they get hot. What's the difference?

You are wrong.

And if you honestly believe that cling wrap you posted wrapping the pallet that was on the roll is ANY different than the stuff that comes in a box and covers your food, you are genuinely misinformed.

That is NOT shrink wrap. It does NOT shrink and it is NOT intended for use with heat unless you're microwaving some leftover mashed potatos. YOU ARE WRONG. Deal with it.

Yes that roll is called "shrink rap". The small box of wrap is called "cling rap" and the stuff I now see that is needed is called "Heat shrink". Thanks to Mc4798 in distinguishing and displaying the correct terminology and photos of it all.

If I was told to use "Heat shrink" we would not be having this duscussion. I appreciate it Mc4798!!!!

If you try and light a piece of "shrink rap" it will not confirm and shrink to something. It will burn up and disappear. I know from experiance in burning the stuff for the fun of it.

And its a HUGE differance. Would YOU burn that "shrink wrap" to your motors wires??

Or would you think I was a JOKER for advising you to do it???
