RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

Hello quick question about gearing and the CC BEC.

I'm running a stock esc/motor in a slash 4x4. I threw a heatsink on the motor after a little dremmel work. The motor runs around 140-148 (F) range after some pretty good running with a 2s (6k mah / 30c). Tomorrow I'll run two batteries back to back and see if it breaks 150 (F). If it doesn't I was thinking of putting 15/52 in for the gearing. Right now I'm running a 14t pinion with the 54t spur.

Anyone know if I'll have any trouble staying below 150 (F) with the 15/52 gearing? I run the truck in parking lots and loose baseball parks about equally and haven't had issues yet with heat (meaning I haven't gone over 150). I also have run a few packs while at a construction site with fairly packed dirt.

I am also running a 1258tg instead of the stock servo along with a cap for cleaning up the signal and maintaining amps (hopefully). Haven't lost control of the RC yet, but I don't I'm getting the full benefit of the servo without a CC BEC. When you connect the BEC up to the receiver does it matter what open channel I use? Also according to the wiring diagram it looks like I just solder into the existing wires from the battery to the ESC and run the BEC in parallel. Is that right? Am I missing something with the wiring diagram? I want to use the part to set the voltage up to 6 to ensure I'm getting the most out of the servo. Again am I missing anything?

Appreciate the help in advance. I'm new to the RC truck scene. Mostly just been playing around with foamie planes before last month. Below are some pictures of the truck as it stands right now.

Ijust installed an Integy dual fan/heat sink - think it was like $15. It not only keeps the Velineon motor cool during running periods but Ilet it run for about 2 minutes when the battery shows signs of dying, and it cools the motor down so quick. Normally I couldnt touch the motor for several minutes after running my Slash 4x4 - now with the fan, Ican touch it and not remove my fingers after about 60 to 90 seconds.

Big difference in my opinon - Im also guessing that this will help lengthen the life of the motor overall.

Here is what Ibought: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...XABWC&P=ML

Hey guys, I have an old Kyosho Mantis GP (I think) mostly complete roller. Before I either simply throw it away or chop it up for a project, would anyone be interested in buying it for $10-25? I don't mean this as a for sale ad, just wondering because I know parts for these things are virtually non-existent. Please PM me if you are interested.

Ijust installed the same servo this weekend without the CC BEC, no problemother than now the servo is way more stout than the plastic horn can handle.

I run the novac glitch busters on my upgraded servos and haven't ran into any problems, but some guys recommend bigger BEC's. The glitch buster plugs into the receiver.

Just make sure u disable the Built in BEC in the ESC. u cant have 2 BEC's pluged into the same curcit.
All u will need from the ESC is just the signal wire, I recomend backingout the other 2 wires from the plug and connect the BEC there

Still extremely new to the hobby but learning as fast as Ican. For example... when painting a lid, take your time. If you think your lines are straight, they're not. If you think you've cleaned the "stuff" off and ready for paint, you didn't. Idecided not to put any more effor into this one so the "unsponsored" look will have to do. Iwill practice patience.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

So I just picked up the Slash 4WD and I am loving this truck. With stock everything it is quick. I have the brushless and I am using the standard battery. I did learn a lesson though, don't let your wife drive it, mine flipped it in the street and gave the first roadrash to the body.

So beside painting one myself where can I get a Toyota Tundra body for this painted? I really want one but the only one I found prepainted was on eBAY for $100. Anyone help me out here?
