RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

Hey all,

Just purchased two of these Traxxas Slash SC 2WD trucks - one for me and one for my 7 year old son. We are going get use to them and head up to the local RC track and see how we do (just for fun)

We are running in training mode for now, cant wait to turn these things loose

that or an X.5 turn ezrun system if you got lipos that can do 60amp...

Me i'd get some RPM parts, brushless system and save the rest of the money for icecream (it's bloody hot here) and maybe go backslash:) (backslashes uberalles)

Now i want icecream!

Very hot here 95+. Had to drop a tooth or two for the heat. Was running stock gears with 1/8 buggie wheels but the motor temp was over 175 so I went down a tooth or two and I'm around 165 on the motor. I will get one pack threw it (7 cell nimh 4600) then take a break.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

3500Kv -4500Kv range

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

I use a 5.5t ezrun system but most people seem happy with a VXL motor and some kind of Castle ESC... (Mambas and MMPs seem to be the most popular)

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

would a ez run motor work i race so i want something that will compete the 6900 is to much i want to get rid of it

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

You have to make sure you get the ezrun xx.5 turns like the 13.5 turn since they are true 540 size and have more power than for example a 13T ezrun which has a 380 size rotor.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

so it would work and is that a fast motor

G!NhO 06-29-2010 02:43 PM

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

The 13.5T ezrun has 3300Kv and a 60amp esc, so it should work just fine on 2s or 3s i think.
Or the 8.5T which is 4000Kv.

My slash is amazing, i have full rpm/proline hop up parts, 100amp esc with vxl motor 3s lipo geared 25/76 right now but it runs hot 160-170, im gonna drop the 86t on it later on, i have no complaints have only broken 3-4 parts in a season, small things like the body mounts front and rear bumper nothing serious theres a rollcage comming soon and new tires and wheels i'll take photo's and video then. I have a few questions on handling i have a pro trac system installed, have 2 degrees of camber outback 2.5 in the front with -2 degrees of toe but the rear wheels still seem to slide alot, is there anything i can do set-up wise to stop this?, im running 35wt all around with progressive weight springs, its also fairly twitchy in the steering, my stock tires are getting close to bald im sure the new tires will help alot

i got my new one out for some street racing a couple days ago. Passersby joggers asked if i built it or bought. They freaked out about the for the price. I did when i 1st saw it, but i had enough money, so i took it. It's a great truck stock.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

As i said i run a 5.5t and when i get my new tires in (30 series badlands in the rear trx alias in front) in and my LIPOS the hookup and power SHOULD send me doing wheelies... atleast thats what youtube has led me to believe... although with the Xtreme racing chassis i'm planning on buying next month that might be nipped in the but with the new low CoG layout...

why didnt you post this as a seperate post? this thread is for slash, might be more helpful if you post your own thread with a bandit question over posting in this thread.

ps hope my tone doesnt come off hateful wasnt my intent just trying to say it is more beneficial for something like your topic to post a new thread. bandits a whole different animal than the slash.

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck

On the Bandit subject, we will have to know more then "it's a Bandit". What motor are you running will be the top qeustion sent back to you. Then, ESC and Battery. But really you should find or start a Bandit thread. Most are not running those anymore. If it's stock just go by the Traxxas guide and find one you like, but still-is it an xl5 and Titan 12T or is it the mechanical and Stinger 20T? Basically, more info is needed.

Okay guys i dont mean to show off but i expect the following parts tomorrow; Strc alu bulkhead, captured hingepins (nuts>>>c-clips) Xtreme racing front and rear shocktower and low COG chassis in g-10, some 2.8" rims and some "disposables" 2x 15t pinion...

I might need to take the day off since i am going to be swapping out most of everything:)
