My Reasons
1. The Tamiya TA05 narrowly beats the Cyclone S as you can get the TA05v.2 or the stock one whichcomes with a shell and can motor
2. I couldn'd decide between the TB03's which haves the trf416's legndary suspension design and unbelievable rear traction and the tc3 which i one of the most succesful rc touring cars and is reasonably cheap to buy compared to some of the other cars on the list.
3. The Sakura S is not as good as the other cars such as sprint 2, tc4 and TF-5 but for $100 kit and cheap spares you can't go wrong.
4. The Kyosho TF5 earnt a lower place than it's main rivls as its pricier than the other cars with better race success
5. The TT01 lacks adjustablity but is the most user friendly here if you set the spur gear assembly correct.
6. The HSP is not the best quality car but sure is great for the cash, $150 RTR
7. The Thundertiger and Ofna are great performers but lack parts support for a mean angry brushless driver.
8. The HPI E10 can't keep up with some of the other cars and has some known problems with the drivetrain.
9. Kyosho Fazer is last in my book as it has a bad part support system and doesn't looklike it will keep up on brushless.

Anything from 3Racing from my experience is last place - just terrible quality, and one small step above a radio shack toy.

I see that none of the X Ray series cars were listed. Neither any Tamiya TRF cars. X Ray would be 1st, then any Tamiya TRF or belt driven TC. Since no TRFs were mentioned, I'd have to go with the Cyclone. A solid third for anything AE.

From the choices listed, sorry - I simply love the layout and ease of maintenance on both my TA05-R and V2 R

Both my cousin and I had MO-3L Mini Coopers, and bought 3Racing parts for them. Needless to say, we were both quite unhappy. Almost all the parts didn't fit correctly, and we had to mod them or alter them to get them to fit right. The only thing I liked wre the chassis connector plates. After that experience, no more 3Racing for either of us.

Yes Haddi, My TA05 Ver.2 R is 100% Tamiya and TRF Good eye !

I say either the TA05 or TC4. Because the RTR TC4 is only $200 for a RTR car. Shell is already painted etc..

Dragnse7en yeah i'm not a big fan of 3 racing either, however they do seem to work on my tt01e well (for looks) I have barely started hoping up my tamiya tb03 and the only 3racing i got on it are the turnbuckles, can't justify spending $150+ on turnbuckles, thats a new mamba bl system

Ahh - Iforgot I have a few on my V2 R, so it's not 100% after all. Maybe 98%.

Robinson Racing 64P spur and pinion
AE springs on the rear dampers
AE lead conuter weights attached to the battery bar
Acer Racing ceramic nitiride diff balls in the rear pulley
Jaco Blues - premounted

Other non-Tamiya parts that work good are:

Kimbrough gears and servo savers
Square RC parts - if you can find them
HPI wheels - indestructable
TOPCAD parts - never heard of any complaints about those
Yeah Racing parts - same as mentioned above

are kawada gears good? yeah racing stuff are ok but i did run into trouble with there dampers, they leaked oil and you can't use ball headed screws as yeah racing had there own mounting systemwhich disturbed my ifs.

Stay away from them. Hit and miss, just like the company Integy.. I tried both their aftermarket parts for both my old TA05-R and AE TC5FT - with no luck on both. Only one side worked on both Kawada and Integy steering knuckes (hubs) but left versus right they suck.

I'm not surprised over the years that both Kawada and Integy cannot get it right, with their left versus right parts. I used to be a 3D CAD designer, and even I could get that right, but why the hell should I fix another company (in this case two companies) mistakes?

Both Kawada and Integy still have rookie CAD techs, with zero engineering support. They are both cheap companies that can't afford a real mech engineer.

I guess that's why I didn't mention both those companies here - too cheap to hire quality work.

I appreciate the info regarding parts.
The Xray T3-11 came onto my radar as another choice on the level of a TRF 416x or 417. How is the Xray company in regard to parts?

thanks for the help dragnse7en lol i was going to get the kawada spurs and put them at the wrath of my hobbywing ezrun 8.5t 3s! when i meant ta05 i meant the whole platform with the ta05, ta05ms, ta05r, ta05ifs, ta05ifs r, ta05 v.2 and ta05v.2. What brands of spurs will be ideal for brushless use? And what pitch is best for my tb03, basher and occasional racer on not very prepared ashphalt track. fully enclosed drivetrain. I am using the tamiya stock ones and i am happy with the quality but finding pinions is hard as to get around 6.0fdr for 8.5t motor i need to use 26t av pinion but i can only find 25t which puts me undergeared ,6.250fdr. One more thing, when using a 3s do i have to have smaller pinion then when using 2s or not. Thanks

I believe that one of my favorite online hobby stores carries X Ray parts. Aside from that, I've heard no complaints from the T3 drivers. As far as quality, I think they're really good, and designed much better than an AE TC6. Changing the roll center and toe-in on the XRay is much faster and quite similiar to an EVOIVor EVOV series Tamiya. The AE TC6 needs to be almost completely torn apart to do the same thing.

48P would be fine if you're bashing in a parking lot. I use 64P gears because I can pick from a larger range of gear ratios. All the BL guys I know use Kimbrough gears but I've used RR stuff way longer (over twenty years) and they have never let me down. 64P also seems to be quieter and I don't get any small rocks stuck in between the teeth.

I can calculate your approximate top speed for your 3S 8.5T BL car, but I will need to know what the largest spur gear size (either 64P, 48P, 48p av, no matter) that can be used on it. I also need to know your gearbox ratio. Your gearbox ratio should be this:
Diff Gear (X) divided by Counterf Gear (Y) equals gear ratio (Z)

My old TA05-R, for example, may seem to not have gearboxes per se, but the center pulleys are technically the counter gears, at 16T each. The front and rear pulleys (or diff pulleys) are 36T, so 36/16=2.25

For shaft drive cars, the counter gears are typically the ones that connect to each end of the center shaft, and drive the F and R diffs.

To get the FDR you want, you may need to step away from the AV gear pitch. I did the same to the 04 module gear pitch setup.

Oh - yeah, I'm thinking go smaller on the pinion on a 3S vs a 2S, unless you can fit a heatsink and cooling fan combo on the motor. The larger the pinion, the harder the motor has to work, and the hotter it will get.

thanks i am only bashing now so i am going to use av gears. My spur is 64t av pitch and final gear ratio is 2.44. My wheels are 60mm diameter foams. i'm buying a set of 2 pinions, av 24t and 25t. Thanks for all the help..
