Caslte sidewinder v2 w/ 4600kv gearing
Hi there,
I recently purchased a Castle sidewinder v2 w/ 4600kv motor combo for my tb03d. I am hesitant to run it yet because I am worried that the stock gearing may make the motor or setup too hot. Right now there is a 22t pinion and 96t spur. Please any advice or suggestions!!!

Your final drive ratio is currently 10.64:1. That is way low, and better suited for off-road racing. My suggestion would be to change the gearing so you can get a final drive ratio to somewhere between 7.5:1 to 7:1, or as close as you can get to those numbers.
You're not using the 06 module 22T pinion with the 04 module 96T Spur gear, are you? If so, take the car apart and simply replace the 04 module gear with the kit's 64T 06 module gear. That will put your final drive ratio at 7.09:1. Please refer to page 17 of your manual for the final drive ratio formula for your car. The top chart is for your 64T spur, and the bottom chart is for the option part 96T 04 module spur gear. The two different module sizes cannot be used together.
As far as using the 4600Kv motor in your car, you should be okay, as long as you resist the urge to punch the throttle from a dead stop. If you cannot resist the urge, then I would recommend that you beef up your drivetrain with high quality diff balls and universal swing shafts (the black steel ones and not the aluminum ones).
